RiKi5156B
Does any one know how to get the innercross shafts out of the lower control arms on a 40 Special? Looks like they were put in then the spring pocket riveted on to capture the shaft. Any ideas?

critterpainter
In 1940 you have to drill out the rivets to remove the shaft. These shafts are unique to 40 and have a different footprint to the frame (wider) than most other years.bill
RiKi5156B
Thanks, I kind of guessed that after looking at the service manual for my 55 Century. It says spread the lower control arm apart with a bar, which I did recently when I rebuilt the 55's. Looks like I'm in for some drillpress time. Thanks guys. RiKi5156B
Sure enough I drilled out 1 rivet and the arm spread out enough for the cross shaft to fall out. Thanks folks
