cooter9
Good friend is trying to figure what model Packard he is trying to buy. It's a 1927 (no pics) open car. How can he/we tell exactly what model it is, like 426,526 etc.?
HH56
Aside from any visual means others can provide, on the Packard Info site, Kev has put together an engine serial number chart-- http://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/PackardEngineSerials.pdf and model progression chart -- http://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/Packard%20Model%20Series%20Progression%20Chart.pdf that might be of some assistance in identifying the model.EDIT: Not sure why second link not showing but both articles in the Misc Packard Information category. Restorer32
If it has an ID plate on the firewall the numbers from that will tell the tale. Also engine # and wheelbase. The number on the plate will identify the body type. This # can then be used to determine the series.
Guest BigKev
Try this one. The website prevents outside websites from linking directly to the PDF's themselves. But you can link to the article page.Progression Chart http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?254Engine Serial Number Charthttp://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?
cooter9
Is there a body tag somewhere?
Steve_Mack_CT
Cooter, since you mentioned it is a 1927 open model, if it is the one on eBay you may want to check out the pre war section of Big Kev's sight as well as there is some discussion on this car in terms of it's model number designation as well as if it is truly a pheaton or a touring type body style.Good luck on your Packard search! Restorer32
The '27 Packard currently on E-Bay is a touring. Only tourings had jump seats.
