Dandy Dave
The oldest car that I worked on that had insert bearings was a 1922 Peerless. It also had a roller cam. Most cars did not get insert bearings until the mid 1930's. Not positive about Buick, but I think I read somewhere a while back that it was 1933. Dandy Dave! Guest imported_arbys
I should have asked "What was the first year insert bearings were used in Buicks"?

jeff
Insert bearings on the mains - early (perhaps '33 as one reader suggested). Insert bearings on the conn rods - later ('49 sounds about right). I purchased a set of conn rods from a later engine to some day slip into my '38. For now my babbitted bearings are still holding up. 42crazy
Unless I am mistaken, after serial number 5220972, they had insert bearing on the connecting rods. I remember that number because it is a friend of mine's phone number, how about that for a co-incedence ? Paul
