bookertee
Could someone tell me reliably the year in which Buick incorporated synchronizers in 2nd and 3rd gears in their transmissions? Was it the same year regardless of the series, or did the large and small transmissions have different introduction dates?
Leif Holmberg
1931 seems to be the firs year with Synchromesh in all but Ser.50 cars. Leif in Sweden.
Guest ZondaC12
I didn't want to be throwing in my opinion because accuracy was important here, but that was actually the year I was gonna guess, going along with the beginning of the straight 8. Mark Shaw
Yup, syncro trannies started in mid year 1931. I have been told the 50 series shared the Marquette driveline early in 1931 (probably models made in 1930 for sale in 1931).

Guest soldier
1931 series 50 Buicks after car serial # 2489682 were equiped with the closed(torque tube) drive shafts and sync. trans. Parts for their tranys and U-joints are the same as for the series 60.

Guest cardinal905
On topic---I just bought a 26 model 27, when driving it I have handled going from 1st to 2nd just fine by letting the rpms wind down for a couple seconds before sliping into 2nd. 3rd gear seems to be much harder to get meshed, it kinda hurts my feelings !! Is this standard issue, or is my clutch weak? It seems fine otherwise.
