1937hd45
This was on a midget race car that was built before 1928. It was cut in half top to bottom, and side to side and welded back together, then chrome plated. What do you think it started life as? look at the hood lacing holes, depth front to back is 5 1/8 overall. Buick & Dodge have that general shape, what do you think? nearchoclatetown
'37, it's too deep for a DB, inside radius is too big at the top of the core. Looks more like a Whippet. Ask Clark for a pic of the 999 shell.
1937hd45
Thanks! The Whippet shell has a distintive top, and this one doesn't have it. Checked a Willys 6 shell last night and it was too short. The iiside has been opened up so all the inside radiuses differ from stock. I need to see a Buick shell from 1923, maybe a Cadillac as well. Ivan Saxton
It is definitely not Cadillac, Bob. I have 13, 16, 22, 23, and 27. If anything, it could approach 4 cyl Buick around 1918-20, though it is a very long time since I saw one and it is not something I would have looked at twice. Maybe it could be one of those special T model speedster dress-up jobs. Ivan
Leif Holmberg
Take a look at http://www.prewarbuick.com/ and see if it`s what you are looking for. Leif in Sweden.
Larry Schramm
I have a '15 & 17 Buick 4 cylinder and it is not like the shell on the 15 truck or 17 car. The top is too rounded. Larry
