  1. At 82 number 0ne on my list is making it to 83.  So far this year attended the AACA Founders tour in Alabama and just returned from the VMCCA Chrome Glidden in Grand Island, Nebraska.  Planning on the Sentimental tour this fall.  Unfortunately the Sentimental, Glidden and Hershey all fall too close together when you live in Texas.  Wish I still had the motorhome!!!

  2. When Ed started this thread I assumed it would be a comical satire of AJ's RV trip and interesting to me as I recently sold my last RV.  Now you have me interested in Sterns Knight and early Jags.

Just sold the second one due to my bad knee replacements.

Paul I feel your pain.  Just sold  RV #3 a year ago.  At 82 wife wouldn't ride with me any more althouhg i never gad a accident or a ticket in all those years.  Started in 1983 with a 26 ft  followed by a 33 ft Airstream on 90;  It was gas 454 with a full Banks set up including headers along with a gear vendor. I put over 75 K miles on it towing Cadillacs to shows and Concours all over the country along with swap meets, vacations and Antique shows.  There is something you can't describe about pulling into Hershey, Pate, Chickasaw or the Indy 500 with you home on wheels until you have been there.   In 94 I moved up to a 38 ft Diesel Pusher.  When hooked to my 22 ft enclosed trailer It got a little long.  On the positive side I don't have to fill up the 150 gal diesel tank any more!! You meet the same quality people in the RV world as you do in the car hobby,

Enjoyed being with you on the tour.

Just sorry I didn't have time to scroll through the photos on your cell phone.  That could probably be the title of a future thread on the forum.   Living in Florida for 8 years with two kids in Texas I am pretty familiar with the Interstate 10.  The 8 hour trip home took 12 hours because of planned antique shop stops along the way.  The posted photos were my only finds.  Thinking about it over the years car tours have been great antique adventures.  One of the joys of touring.  Going on the Texoma tour in 2 weeks followed by the Chrome Glidden.  It is good to be back on the road after 2 years of Covid

So 5-7 years ago I went through a very nasty divorce. My wife took just about everything I had.

Rules of divorce I learned 38 years ago

1  Nobody said it was going to be fair.

2 The reason it costs so much is because "Its worth it"  Looking back it was the best money I ever spent!!  Your life will come back to normal.

  6. I have been going for about 20 years.  I thought last year was pretty bad so didn't go this year.  In my opinion it was declining even before Covid.  Leaving for the Founders tour in the morning and filled up, $75 for 14.5 gal.  Is this going to  significantly reduce tour/show attendance this year?

    parking is non existent

Having been to Paris 18-20 times I only rented a car once.  The rental agency was a block and half from my Hotel and it took me 45 minutes to get back.   After that if we were taking excursion into the country side we would rent a car at De Galle and ride the Air France bus out to the airport.  One of the local's told me that 1.5 million cars enter Paris daily and there are only 750,000 parking spaces.

Age 7-8 steering the John Deere 2 cylinder sitting on dad's lap.  Age 10 driving the Ford used to power the hay fork lifting baled hay into the barn.  Age 12 Plowing after school till 10 PM.  After dark you could lite a cigarette (provided by the hired man) on the WD 45 Muffler.  Drove the 47 Ford PU to school on a farm exemption school permit at age 14.  At age 17 I started driving a semi hauling cement culverts to construction sites around the state of Iowa during summer vacation.  Used the money to drop a 57 J-2 mated to a 37 LaSalle 3 Speed into my 53 Olds.  Those were the days.  Thanks for triggering the memories.

  9. Like multiple others I thank you for posting.  You have a unique photographic ability that makes us want to see more.  I am especially fond of this thread as my first antique was a 34 Pontiac Cabriolet which I still have...It's last tour was the 34th Glidden and was replaced by a 41 Cadillac that I have toured with ever since.  I apologize for the photo quality.  Taken by my friend with his Instamatic in 79.  How many of you are old enough to remember the Kodak Instamatic?
