    FLAG DAY

So true! Not much support and respect for what our flag stands for. I grew up in a small central Illinois town and my dad was a merchant on the "square". Each business had a receptacle in the side walk to hold the flag pole. My dad would be up early on June 14 (plus all of the other designated days) to drive to the store and get his flag up wtih ALL of the other merchants. It was a beautiful site! As a boy scout in this same era we were active in getting flags out on as many residences as we could. Unfortunately we do not see this enthusiasm today!
  3. Looking for someone to look at a 64 Wildcat convertible for me in Buffalo. Willing to pay a fee or expenses. Please PM me. Gary
  4. Mr Earl has a great idea! Who has a junk torgue tube that they would be willing to sell the ends off of? I would be interested. Gary
  5. What is the correct finish/color on a '53 Super Dynaflow transmission? Thanks, Gary
  6. Is there anyone in the Eugene/Junction City, OR area that could look at a 1957 Buick Century 2Dr HT for me? I am very interested in the car but would like for some one to take a look. I would pay your expenses or a fee. The car is located in the country between the two towns. Thanks in advance for your help. Gary
  7. Can someone please tell me why some '57 Buicks do not have the 3 piece rear glass? Thanks, Gar
  8. Not to take away from the subject of this orginal post but how about some pictures of the American Lafrance for those that have not had the opportunity to see it! Thanks Gary
  9. Hey Guy's: In my opinion this is what this forum is about. Putting various experiences in print to help people like myself make proper decisions in restoring a Buick. I really appreciate the input and hope every one is still on speaking terms! Thanks, Gary
  10. Looks like a pretty decent TN 55 2DR HT on JalopyJournal.com this morning. I know nothing about the car. Too nice to rod.
  11. Appreciate the discussion. I have not called either one (also a place on the west coast Jamco) yet as I was waiting to see what input I received here. It appears that no one is producing springs that are ground/forged like orginals. So with this in mind what is the fix? Does anyone make a spacer? Any one had experience with the "variable rate" springs that Springs and Things offer? Thanks again Gary
  12. Can anyone share their experience or thoughts on spring replacement. The ones on the car have settled down considerably and I plan to replace them. Should I go with a "standard" coil or go with a heavier spring. The parts book only shows one part number for the front but have a standard, +200 pound and +500 pound spring for the rear. I do not want to seriously affect the ride and make it too harsh but looking for additional support. Any input will be appreciated. Gary
  13. Tim: My sheet from Buicks.net shows that all block numbers are 7 digit numbers, all starting with "1" for 332's thru 425's. Might check the web site as it gives head and manifold #'s also Gary
  14. Can some one please ID and decode this frame # for me. The frame is 13640577. Appreciate your help Thanks, Gary
  15. If you have a car the first digit of the serial number designates the plant where it was built. Does not really answer your question but maybe helps.
  16. Lamar: Offer still stands to pick up the tranny. I would like the remains of the motor. Could the guy that is seperating the two take a couple of pictures so that I see just what is left and involved. I am taking a motor hoist with me for another purpose but if I can back up to the motor I can figure out a way to get it in the truck! I just picked up the complete 56 motor and transmission yesterday and hauled it home in my Yukon XL. Certainly your call. There is a possibility that my son could bring the tranny down to Atlanta (Buckhead) the first full week in November. We are still planning to be down that way in late November or early Dec. I am leaving for NYC the 22nd. Gary
  17. I was very interested in the 53 Skylark frame that was on display at the Flint show however was a bit confused after viewing it. Most of the frame and inner fender panel components were a flat black (looked great!). Portions of the rear axle assembly were a gloss black and the front shocks were raw metal. The transmission appeared to be a light gray or maybe even a clear coat over freshly blasted metal. Can some one please give me some guidance as to what is the correct color scheme and sheen? I am considering powder coating at this time but am still open to any and all suggestions and input. If you can provide procuct names or numbers, that would be helpful. Appreciate your response as I would like to get it right! Thanks, Gary BCA# 43395
  18. Anyone passing through Grand Junction, Colorado on I 70 in route to Flint with room to haul a 53 buick steering column, sector and other misc small steering parts? If possible e-mail me at gggholson@comcast.net. Thanks Gary
  19. Can anyone please give me an estimated weight of a complete engine and transmission? Appreciate your input. Thanks, GGG
  20. Can any one please give me the conversion numbers of oil filters that matches an A/C PF 122 for a 1953 Buick 322. It does not appear that A/C still has the PF 122 available. Or have they changed numbers? Thanks!
  21. I had a quote from GLory Auto Transport to move a car from Denver to Indiana and felt it was reasonable. He was highly recommended and that's all he does is haul cars. See their web site. I ended up not buying the car but would certainly contact him again. Gary
  22. I am interested in hearing any good or bad experiences relate to engine rebuild kits that are on the market. Would appreciate any input.
  23. Looking for a 1953 Buick Super or Roadmaster 2 DR HT rolling frame (engine or transmission not important) or parts car with good frame. Prefer mid west location but will consider all. Thanks,
  24. Can some one PLEASE help me with the location of the frame number on a 53 buick super? Does the number contain "I"'s or are they supposed to be "1"'s? I have an eight diget # that reads 47I6484I. Is this a correct number? Notice the "I" between the 7&6 and at the end. Thanks
  25. Can anyone help me locate the serial (vin) number on my recently purchased 1953 Buick Super model 56C? The manual says it is on the left side frame rail near the master cylinder. Can anyone be more specific? What does a typical vin number look like for this year? Appreciate any help. I have found a small tin tag near the bottom of the left door hinge post but it does not appear to be a vin number. It reads 47 I 6484 I. Thanks, GGG
