  1. Doug, You are correct in that the transmission lines connected directly into the radiator fittings. It is not uncommon to find a short hose or tube joint near the radiator where the original tube end fitting was damaged in the past. New transmission lines are available from various sources, here is one on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271401241126?lpid=82
  2. Rufcar, I have a 1965 Riviera GS and I'm located in York, PA. My car is in very nice "survivor" condition and you are welcome to come look it over if you want to familiarize yourself with some of the correct details of these cars prior to making a purchase. I could also send you pictures if you prefer.
  3. Still searching for a good 1960 Buick convertible. I've looked at several possibilities but have not yet found the right combination of condition, price and location. Any leads on cars in the PA vicinity would be most appreciated. Thanks.

  5. Don, I had a 1964 Riviera with factory installed cruise control. The speedometer buzzer function was not utilized when you had the cruise control option. Cruise control equipped cars used a different speedometer which had special circuitry for the cruise control operation. Installing this option on your car must have been a pretty big job, were you able to get it to function properly? I was considering adding cruise to my '65 Riviera, I have everything but the speedometer and the brake pedal switch and I have not been able to find the parts at a reasonable price. I believe all the interconnecting wiring is already in the factory harness, is that what you found when you did your installation?
  6. That is the design of this particular turbine. Look closely and you'll see that the side opposite the propeller blade is different. It looks like it has a counter balance feature built in. I have another picture showing the same turbine unit installed on a tower and it also has a single blade.
  7. Casey, I assume you need the clips that attach the moldings for the front windshield and rear window. I bought replacement clips that were an exact match from Restoration Specialties. Unfortunately, I don't recall the part number and the illustrations in their catalog make it difficult to pick out the correct part among several that look very similar. I've included a picture of the correct clip with some dimensions. Hopefully, this will help get you what you need.
  8. I came across this interesting picture while working on a project for the York County Historic Trust (York, PA). The car pictured is outfitted to serve as a test vehicle for small wind turbines. These were popular in rural areas prior widespread electrification. The picture was taken sometime in the mid to late 1930's and it is marked on the back "Wind Turbine Company, West Chester, PA". What make and year is the car? I can't imagine what it must have been like driving this crazy thing with that huge blade spinning around right over your head!
  9. Saw this ad in my local Craigslist. Could be a nice car for someone:http://york.craigslist.org/cto/4316118583.html

    Gaskets

I was able to get the Victor Reinz gaskets you need from Rock Auto at a very reasonable price. They carry a wide variety of parts for our old Rivieras. From what I read in the past, many people recommend the Victor Reinz gaskets over the Fel-lPro.
  11. Still looking for the right car. Would like to find one within reasonable driving distance from PA. Any leads appreciated.

  13. Thanks for the leads guys. I agree that the Electra convertible in California looks to be a nice car, however I think the price is too high and it is too far away. I'm in PA so I'm looking for something closer that I could actually see in person prior to purchasing. The car on Ebay doesn't look bad either but I just can not bring myself to actually buy a car on line that way. In an ideal situation, I would like to purchase a car from a BCA or AACA member who could give me an accurate description and history of the car. Keep the leads coming, I'm willing to take my time to find the right car.
  14. I'm interested in purchasing a 1960 Buick convertible. I would prefer an Electra but will consider other models. Looking for a solid #2 car that has not been modified. Cash available for easy sale. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  20. I thought you folks might enjoy seeing this cool 1960's Buick Service sign. It came out of Miller Motors Buick in Baltimore when they closed up several years ago. The sign is illuminated and originally had a motorized disc made with a special polarized light material that would interact with polarized filter material located behind the various maintenance components shown on the sign. As the disc rotated, the individual areas of the sign would have been highlighted. Unfortunately, that feature had been removed long ago probably after the motor died. After a good cleaning to remove about 50 years worth of crud and dead bugs, I plugged it in and all the lights worked, it looks great in the dark. There was a tag on the back with the name of the company that originally made the sign. A Google search showed they are still in business. Has anyone ever seen another one of these?
  21. Here is copy of a 63-65 Riviera Lube Chart. It has a lot of information in a concise format, possibly this will help you.
