  1. no i'm not retired--but my wife is real tired of me spending every waking hour on this car. it was partially restored when i got it so it wasnt a basket case or a rust bucket. it was missing lots of parts and suffering from 20+years of neglect. i last ran in 1975. it was kept inside so no rust or glass deterioration. engine runs good. brakes were completely rusted and locked. i have had lots of questions answered searching this site___ keep up the good posts, hints and how to answers. dd attached are more photos
  2. here is a picture of my 41 lz sedan that i have been working on since august. this is an original oklahoma car delivered to oklahoma city in december 1940. i am really proud of it and look forward to car shows this spring. david
  3. thanks for reply. i think you answered my question since the pumps both lined up and the outlet is to the outside on each pump. i incorrectly stated that they were alike they are a mirror image of each other. since they bolted up with no problem i assume i have them installed correctly. david
  4. i just had the waterpumps rebuilt on my 41 lz. i cant find any numbers on them but the service manual says the left and right are not interchangeable. i cant see any difference in the two waterpumps. neither one has a plug for heater hose. what if any difference is there in the two pumps and is it critical that they be on correct side. david
  5. i was hoping to find wide white walls. i am negotiating for a set in texas now. if that doesnt come through i will contact you. thanks. david
  6. i could use just one tire and tube for the spare tire, age not so important. david

  8. check out the lincolns for auction at barrett jackson in scottsdale in january. two particularly nice continental cabriolets. this is usually televised on cable channel "speedvision" the web site is: www.barrett-jackson.com
  9. i am also new member. i am restoring a 41 lz four door. the technical information and contacts i have received on this site have been most helpful. i dont know anyone locally who has a car like mine so i rely on this site for help. i have been provided answers to all my questions or referred to a source for the answers. when i have a problem in the restoration my first step is to search the prior posts for similar questions. thanks a lot to all who have guided my efforts. david
  10. i am looking for a set of 700-16 wide white tires for my 41 lincoln zephyr. i am hoping that someone has a takeoff set of bias ply tube tires that they replaced with radials. no junk wanted--i need tires for a driver. dd
  11. my air wrench was not powerful enough to budge the puller. hammer and break over was darn hard work. i hope i dont have to take them off again soon. thanks
  12. just this weekend i rebuilt the brakes on my zephyr. removing the rear hubs was quite a job--i used the krwilson type hub puller but it is still a lengthy process requiring use of a hammer and long breakover on puller while holding lug nuts to keep axle from turning. the hubs hadnt been removed in over 30 years and they were really frozen. all wheel cylinders were rusted and frozen. post by cboz on subject was invaluable in finding right tool and method.
  13. under earlier reply to post called heater questions by cboz there is a photo of a 37 hot air heater and exchanger still installed in car
  14. I JUST TALKED TO EARLE BROWN TODAY. HE HAS THE AUTHENTICITY MANUAL IN STOCK. HIS PHONE NUMBER IS 724-942-1940
  15. i have seen several posts referring to the lz authenticity manual and some members have been courteous enough to share information from that document with me in order to answer questions i had about restoration but i have been told that it is out of print and not available. the question is why cant it be reprinted and sold by club at modest price. many of the old zephyrs are going through their 2nd or third restoration by now and the new owners could really benefit from having this information available.
  16. john do you have a usable radio antenna for 41 zephyr.
  17. i am looking for a radio or block out plate for my 41 lz i dont believe it has had radio before. is the radio for this car interchangeable with any ford radios and does anyone have a photo of the radio so i can look for one at an upcoming swap meet. david
  18. some of the chrome trim on the side my zephyr were in the trunk. there are clips in the holes on the car where the trim goes that look like a spring or spiral. i cant figure out how the put the trim back on. do i take clips off car and put clips in trim and reinstall or do you somehow put trim back on with clips on car. i obviously am not a body man and just need some general guidance so i wont scratch up the paint putting it back on.
  19. also the car in salvage yard does it have chrome trim, radio, sunvisors, mirrors, etc. if so i would like the contact information.
  20. was this a factory heater. i dont know how a gas heater works or how it installs. i am kinda new to the lincolns david
  21. i am interested in motor. i appreciate your pointing out the earlier post. it helped me to understand how the system works. please send name address and price including shipping for motor and i will mail y;ou a check. you can contact me at ddavis5101@sbcglobal.net. do you have any of the other heater parts such as ducts or inside unit. david davis
  22. my 41 lz four door does not have a heater. the cables to the controls have been cut. on the right side of the exhaust pipe is a muffler looking device that has two large holes with flanges on them. is this part of a hot air heater. how did it work and how did it connect. what kind of ducts or hoses were used to connect the heater to the heat exchanger? any other tips on heaters would be appreciated. david davis
