The large container ship Flaminia has been burning for a couple of days in the mid-Atantic and has been abandoned by its crew. It's a German ship that left Charleston, SC July 8 bound for Antwerp, Belgium. I would guess it's loaded with BMW's from Greenville/Spartanburg. I hope no one lost any collector cars. Don

All Cadillacs except the 75 received the new finned body style in 1948. The large 1948 Model 75 carried over the 1947 body style. Don

It's a 1926 for sure, a landau which is a little higher end than the standard 4-door sedan. The standard sedan has a squared off top and square rear quarter windows. The landau has the "leather" top extending down around the rear windows and the "landau irons" behind the rear quarter windows. In addition to the differences mentioned above the 1927 has a double belt line molding around the body which yours lacks. The 1925 didn't have the bar supporting the headlights; the headlights were mounted directly on the fenders. A trick I learned is to look at the dates on the window glass. It's usually found in the corner. I ran across a guy who claimed he had a 1943 sedan (it was obviously a 1946). I showed him that all the glass was dated 3/46. He was flustered, but still kept advertising at as a "1943 army staff car" even though it was a Master Deluxe with all the flashy chrome. Another place to look is the taillight lens. I don't know about cars of this era, but in the late 50's and early 60's the first two digits of the part number stamped in the lens represented the year (or was it the last two digits? That was a long time ago). This wasn't always right, but it was useful when I worked at a parts store and many people didn't know the year of their car. Let us know if you find any dates. Don
