Beautiful car ED - I've always loved that body style and T & M were very high quality body builders, much like Rollston were in the States. Good Luck and happy motoring !!!!!! .................................Steve

I changed from points to electronic ignition because I like the quicker start-up [ much quicker than points ] and with a hotter spark there's more efficient combustion which gives a little more power and the best trade off .........MORE MILES TO A GALLON OF GAS !!!!!! Now who'd be against that? ................Steve

A 6 volt system will work great if you have all your grounds clean and if you have a electronic ignition system installed it will run like a new car of today - all you have to do is give the gas pedal a few pumps! It's true!!! ..............................Steve

I love the Toro's - beautiful cars indeed. I used Paul's chrome plating in pennsylvania and couldn't be happier. He tends to be a little pricey but I can tell you his chrome won't peel off with tape on it. .......................Steve

WAIT A MINUTE! Before printing or pressing "SEND"
Dr Morbius replied to West Peterson's topic in AACA - Editors & Webmasters
Hey , thanks for the Snopes.com info - 99% of the time I can figure if something is crapola but once in a while I come across something that makes me wonder but turns out to be .......... well ........crap. ..................Steve -
Yes Henry Ford recanted his anti-Semitism. But only under duress .. I don't believe he really meant it. And about those issues printed in the good ole days being relevant today - just look at CNN or MSNBC tomarrow and see what ole Iran and Syria and even France are up to. By the way - I'm not Jewish ..... I just wish everyone could get along, but that won't happen until - well I know the answer , and I'm sure others know too but I'm trying to keep religion out of the AACA discussions and back to OUR CARS!!! .......................Steve

Yea I had both my distributors rebuilt to take out any play BUT you need to use pertronix's ignition coil with their system - it's more efficent than a regular one .......... they should have mentioned it when you ordered from them !! ..............Steve

Just riding in that - to me - would be a thrill of a lifetime !!!! West ...do you know if that has a cutout [exhaust system] - excuse me , I gotta go get a roll of paper towels to wipe up the drool on my keyboard. NOW THAT'S A PACKARD!!!!! ..............................Steve

Maybe he meant in Europe somewhere ? Possibility anyways. .....................Steve

I have both my '54 Packards with 6 volt positive ground Pertronix systems and they both start up as soon as you turn the key. Do you have your original 6 volt system or did you upgrade [ some say downgrade! ] to 12 volts. Either way there should be no reason for it not to work on practically any car, unless you have a glich such as bad ground , bad ignition coil , wiring incorrect , in other words something minor. Another thing I found out - make sure your generator puts out at least 5.5 volts cause the pertronix fails to fire below that. Thats the only negative I can see - you must have a healthy generator. Hope this helps cause when you finally get it running you'll see that your straight 8 revs quicker which makes your Packard perform better - It's happened to both of mine! ...........................Steve

I just saw another 2 movies with Packards in them. The first - "It came from Outer Space" 1953 [ a good movie! ] had a '49 Packard sedan in a scene outside the Sheriff's office. #2 - "The Haunting" 1963 [ also good ] had a "51 or '52 Packard Taxi that dropped the Professor's wife off at the old house. That's all for now! .........................Steve
