One Change....

Hey SafeT - The roads in the '20's & '30's were made for upper speeds of 40 , maybe 50 mph tops. The Packard gearing was designed for the times !!! ...........Steve
5. Brad - Happy New Year to you - and everyone else !!!!!!!! By the way ....... I was contemplating giving him $3 mill for the Duesy - but he also wanted $50,000 for "each" tire 'cause they were filled with nitrogen by William Randolph Hearst himself , and that's just a little too rich for my blood ! ....................Steve

1930 Marmon

Any news at all about that Marmon ??? .......Steve
9. No, No it was Fred 'cause E. L. Cord wanted to save on production costs by using a mouse - but Fred said it had to be a rat because a mouse couldn't handle all that torque !!! So Cord nixed it ! By the way this is all true , except for the part about everything.......... ..................Steve
10. Packardsforever - when you put your new Optima in , don't forget to jump your voltage regulator [ also known as polarizing ] or you might burn it out ! .....................Steve
11. Absolutely drop the pan , It's not a big job at all - Mt friend had a '48 Hudson that had'nt been run for 6 years. He dropped the pan and found a dead mouse stuck in the pan's baffle. Think what that would do to an oil pump! And if he just changed the oil a few times the mouse would not come out cause of the baffle. By the way Geoff- I would find it incredibly exciting to try to bring a [ lovable ] beast like an old Packard to life !!! Great good luck and live long and prosper ! ..........Steve

16. I've got a '54 Pacific also and I think if you take your spark plugs out you may find them soaked with gas which is not good for starting, it means your engine is flooded . You have to take out all the plugs and air out your engine before puttind in NEW plugs and attempting to start it again. Good Luck!!!! ...................... Steve

21. SILVERGHOST - That's a huge undertaking what you want to do and I tip my hat to you a dozen times! They are probably the most impressive bodies you could put on a car , bar none. With labor costs the way they are your going to be spending a Kings ransom , but being such an important undertaking you could take many pictures and write a book on it. I tell you I'd buy a copy !!! .................. Steve P.S. - Would you sign it for me ? ..............Steve
22. I kid , I kid !!! ............ Steve
