  1. From the album: Ford - Post War

I saw this magnficent 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible at a car show in Westbrook, Connecticut, on Saturday, May 14, 2005. Reportedly it is one of 8 remaining of 17 documented 1962 M-series convertibles.
  2. Looks great Matt--congratulations once again on this special recognition of your historic automobile!
  3. VERY cool Matt--take a picture of it as-mounted on your car some time for us--and AACA is lucky to have you as it's newest Ambassador (oops--unintended pun there?--ha ha!).
  4. I recall there was a nice little article in the May-June 2004 Antique Automobile about "The Red Baron," a beloved 1978 Mustang, with a bit of "Cobra-look" added, it appears. It bears repeating that while the Mustang IIs may be underappreciated by most, they are indeed interesting and significant automobiles.
  5. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> They just put those wheels and tires on it,they suck!!!! </div></div> Too much "Pimp My Ride"...kids these days... So, when's the King Cobra vs. SC/Rambler grudge match, Matt?
  6. Very cool Matt--congratulations--it could not have happened to a more enthusiastic person. It would be cool to see your car and meet you at Hershey this fall. Like "the other Steve M." says, watch the upcoming A.A. issues for the meet request sheets that come packaged with the magazine...
  7. Hi Jim, I got the postcard, with the space number--I'm just not familiar with the layout of this field, and wanted to get a rough idea for where I'd be: RSD 43 Anyone know where that is? By the way Jim, I talked with a VW guy from Horseheads, NY, a couple of days ago, who's with the helicopter company up there--which is now affiliated with the helicopter company I work for. He was visiting our company on business and we struck up a brief conversation. I asked if he knew you--I think your fastener company name rang a bell with him. Thank you.
  8. Ok, one more try, and I won't bring up the subject any more: I have a new space in a new field for the AACA Hershey 2005 Fall Meet Flea Market. Are there online maps anywhere where we can look to find out "where we are?" I scanned the Hershey Region web site and didn't see anything that looked like what I was looking for, so presumably it appears I'll have to wait for the mailing when they send you the actual windshield sticker and the map to your space? Thanks again for any help or advice.

  10. Speaking of "Preservation," Ed, it has been our experience that checking out the "HPOF" class at Hershey has been one of the real highlights of the show. It's great to see these original "patina cars" get a place of recognition for their special qualities. Kudos to AACA for making it happen!
  11. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">As for single clubs, I can say that the Mustang Club is just as bad or worse as what you're claiming AACA to be. To add insult to injury, a lot of the Mustang parts vendors fit that category too. My father and I own three Mustang II's. We've been snubbed by parts vendors, we've been snubbed by spectators, and we've been snubbed my other Mustang owners. When we pull out our 1987 Mustang GT with T-tops and 12,000 miles on it out onto the field, we're okay, but when it's one of the Mustang II's, we've been treated like dirt before. If the spectators don't know enough about Mustangs, then they usually have a positive reaction. As a Mustang II owner, I'll be the first to admit that those cars are a pain to work on, finding parts are a real pain, and no matter what, the car will still be a Pinto with different bends in the metal. As for a 1965-1966 Mustang, they're still Falcons, and if I had the chance find a reasonably priced Shelby GT-350, or build a clone, I'd grab one.</div></div> As a vintage VW and Pinto owner, I know where you're coming from, ex98th. Gotta keep the faith--you're helping to preserve real automotive history, whether "the powers that be" want to admit it or not. I *love* seeing Mustang IIs--they are truly significant automobiles. Good luck and have fun with 'em.
  12. Hey-ho, my postcard arrived on Weds (5/4), and I have a new space in a new field. Are there online maps anywhere where we can look to find out "where we are?" Thanks!

  14. Just got Charlie's 1934 Ford cross-country story posted on this new page: http://members.aol.com/cgextras/CGunn1934FordXCntry.html
  15. Isn't Hershey mostly a social occasion too? We go there mostly to enjoy the "aura" of being around so much old car enthusiasm--not really to find parts (though it is always exciting walking the flea market and never knowing what sort of ultra cool old car or old car part you may run across). I've never been to any of the "regular" Carlisles--only to one of the "Import Carlisles" several years ago--so can't add any comments about it.
  16. This organization might be a good one to touch base with, ref. early Porsches: http://www.356registry.org/
  17. From the album: Other Makes

What the heck--one more, since neither of the other two show the front end of this magnificent auto. There was a "New Hope Automobile Show" First Place Award pewter plate (from the year 2000, it appeared) displayed in the trunk.
  18. From the album: Other Makes

Here's another view of this magnificent 1970 VW Karmann Ghia.
  19. From the album: Other Makes

I was very fortunate to attend a large VW enthusiast gathering in Englishtown, New Jersey (at Raceway Park, the drag racing facility), and saw this amazing Delaware-based 1970 VW Karmann Ghia, auto-stick model, with a reported 10,200 original miles. It was a true stand out, and a joy to view.
  20. "That thing got a hemi in it?" "Schweet!"
  21. Thanks guys for your feedback. Are there explanations/guidelines posted anywhere at the AACA web site about how the National Awards program works? Our '54 VW was nominated, and received an SF Edge trophy several years ago, and we feel extremely proud of that. Someone else asked me about the program recently, and I wanted to point them in the right direction on where to go to find out more. Thanks again.
  22. Looks like I just found the list of winners from this past February's National Meeting in the "Editors Web & Print" area.
  23. The May pictures in the 2005 AACA Calendar got me to thinking: Are the National Award winners posted anywhere online? Is there a discussion/explanation posted anywhere online about how National Awards are nominated and chosen? Thank you.
  24. That's one mean and nasty Corvette--wow!
