  1. I'm bringing LOTS of chairs but have not figured out how to do the "shade" thing that would look nostalgic. Considered make'n canopies out of old hoods but that idea died quickly. Plain tents for shade are too "normal" and I do like to add some spice to my vendor spaces.
  2. Absolutely one of my favorite sites to post cars for sale....!!!!!!!! In my top five sites...!!! I love just going to the website and lookin at all the old cool cars.`
  3. Howdy, I work for one of those inspection companies... because I live in Polecat Hollar I don't get many assignments but when I do they are always entertaining. Some are right on que with condidtion stated, and my last one said all that was needed on the low mileage Vette was some buffing. Well add a new front valance cracked in 3 spots on the bottom, enough stone chips and craters that would make the man in the moon blush, and a few cracks in the paint the seller didn't notice. My advice is call the seller, if he's had the car for the past 10 years it's a good chance he knows what he has, and an inspection probably isn't needed. In my past two inspections both cars had recently been bought by "vintage auto dealers" and were being quickly "flipped" as they say to make a quick profit. Last car the title was still in the previous owners name. On a good note the Vette I inspected didn't sell, and they guy in Norway or where ever he was was saved a lot of money and disappointment. I'll mention that I usually spend 2 hours on site and take a zillion photos.

  5. Hey guys thanks for chirpping in so much today... yesterday must have been a busy day at work as the replies were on the low side. I'm paying the bills this summer selling car parts (I sub teach the rest of the year) and really do appreciate all inputs thank you. I would have never thought the 56 Dodge plastic emblem was 1950's.... looks so 1940's style... just checked a 56 Dodge and shazam there it is. A couple more ID's and I may even have gas and beer money in the bag. Thanks all.
  6. Thanks for the input. Paul.... I have to measure this old round tank, but it's in deep storage and will be able to get figures to you in about 2 weeks. Thanks everyone....!!!!!

  9. Well folks I'm set up here on the river, and some friends just stopped by to fish and what not, and the fellow wearing a stawhat and some Alabama Chrome (that's duct tape fyi) on the top of the hat looks at the bars and says he'll give me a nickel each. He says they fit 50's Mopar... never wear out... but..... they make a heck of a nice pry bar. Back to work....!

  11. Update.... I bought my first micrometer. I've had two people now tell me this is a Model T.... so Model T it must be. Not to throw a wrench into the discussion but I don't have a lot of spare cash and bought a new digital one from Harbor Freight. Going on this.... we have 1.23 all the way across on all journals. My pal is a GM mechanic and tells me that all journals seem to be consistant all the way across each one (no dips) and since there is greenish paint on the gear teeth I'd say it's been reworked. The shaft came from a old parts manager who had a slew of different things in his shed...!
  12. How do you know it's used ???? The paint on the gear is still on it. At first I thought it might be used, but then there would not be greenish blue paint on the gears. Hollar back....

  15. <HTML> <HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="#ffffff" LINK="#000000"> Being a part-time animator myself, I've been watching the development of this Pixar movie for the past 2 years and when I saw the first previews of the race scene I was to say the least entertained. Now being the full-time entertainer that I am, last year at Hershey we dragged up to our vendor spaces a very rusty 1955 Dodge pickup as nothing more than a prop to get attention and some laughs. I pondered at the time how much fun I could have if I dressed up the old truck to look like the Tow Truck in the Cars movie.... so many considereations... so little room... ended up selling the tailgate for $50 bucks I think and sold the rest of the truck for $100 delivered...!</P> [image]http://www.wowabunga.com/fun/bigred/images/thephoto.jpg" ALIGN= "BOTTOM[/image]</P> Hershey 2006 will be a challenge for me, as I have the big red vintage NASCAR race car hauler (pictured on the right) currently under restoration and it may not make it to Hershey in the fall....... but...... don't fret as I've already got "Plan B" well underway and it too will be a real hoot to see and experience. </BODY> </HTML>
  16. My 65 Rambler is up on blocks, parked on a mountain side 800 miles away, probably has little critters once again living in it.... just too many other auto projects underway so I canceled the tags and insurance. Am looking to buy a vintage boat "already done" as I'd like to go play and not work so much...

    vendors

As a vendor... I can't say I have the luxury of having shed after shed full of old car parts waiting for me to sift thru, load up in the truck, take a few days off work... and then sit in snow fluries, rain and mud, or hot summer heat (sometimes with out a hot shower days on end) and on and on... all in the effort to make a dollar. I will say that all year long I visit auctions, pester grey haired men with old cars way up in the boonies, chase down rumors of barns full of parts guarded over by no one other than "Atilla the Hun's" widowed sister. (ok I have a good lead on a barn full of old model A and T parts.... stay tuned sources say we're near a deal). For example last week I drove over 8 hours round trip ($80 in gas) to attend a estate auction way up in the sticks... came back with a Jeep full of good stuff. Now for the flip side of this story... gathering up old parts is not a "sure thing source of income" as I may go for several months before I again find a "stash" of old car parts. Once went a whole year without finding much to gather up and bring to market... hard to make a dollar when 2 vendor spaces cost nearly $200 and then toss in all the other expenses, some shows I just have to stay home and work the day job. Then a light bulb went off... why don't I find some other sources of income that can supliment my old parts vending hobby. Don't get me wrong, I crave crawing thru yellow school buses, and digging thru old barns... its fun to find stuff and keep for myself as well as stuff to sell. Anyway I have a few things in my vendor spaces that are not car related, they are new, and (drumroll) without those items I'd just stay home and sell this dusty old stuff on that fancy internet. And I kid you not... there are times, many times that my "20 percent merchandise items" out sell the parts and pay for my spaces, gas, and food... many many many times. Please do not mess with a "formula" that works for me. Now back to the fun and the hunt... I recently picked up a very old gas tank from the 1920's I assume, with the sole purpose of bringing it to Hershey (have 4 spaces in a yet to be determined golf course sand bunker in the newly created Orange field that once was the Hershey Golf Course). Anyway if you've been so kind to read this far in my rant... would you please see this fourm link below where you'll find this vintage gas tank (very nice metal) and help me to ID this old well preserved relic.... http://forums.aaca.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=378356&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 See you all in Hershey 2006...!!!!
  18. >>Does the attached photo help to identify??>> There was a link at one time on these message boards to a web page full of prewar jacks from the AACA Museum, and I used that reference to ID this jack as well as a few more. Anyone know where the link went to that resource, as I've used it to identify several prewar jacks now available for purchase. Thank you to everyone who confirmed this was really a 1939 Buick jack. Actually, when I bought the shark fin jack at an estate sale I assumed it was a Ford jack. The second photo of me shows a red wagon full of old bumper jacks purchased at a swap meet, I was able to ID sevreral out of that purchase, the rest sit in storage waiting for a rainy day. On a slow day I'll post photos of the 100+ and growing pile of jacks I have in storage still awaiting identification. The steering wheel in the photo was a nice 1960's Jaguar, and the big red truck in the back ground once belonged to NASCAR great Bobby Allison. Love It or Laugh at It, Ramblen Randy PS: I have to sell a lot of jacks just to pay for the gas to drive that big red truck around town...!

  22. Thank you Dave for the ID confirmation and added info. I picked up this jack last week at a auction up in the boonies, it was probably headed for the scrap metal heap as I bought about 2 dozen for dirt cheep. Yes this internet is amazing... I used the internet to compile a jack id visual library of over 300 jacks.... and then used the internet to confirm it. Now I'm using the net to find it a new home....
  23. I was at a auction way up in the boonies last month and there was the perverbial yellow school bus full of parts. Most of the folks at the auction were there to buy the two or three rusty 1970 Chargers, or to snatch up a few antiques the pack rat owner had collected. Hardly no one ventured into the bus to look and see what treasure lay inside. Me... my eyes widened and ate my lunch ahead of schedule and jumped up in that bus and spent a good hour checking things over. I saw a old SWAMP AIRCONDITIONER and made sure I hid it near the front under some boxes. My pal found a metal tool box and opened it up and there was a full set Souix Valve Grinder package. I gathered a few more things in piles. Was not sure how the deal would go down... would I have to buy the contents of the whole bus or what. Auctioneer said "ok boys we're gonna go for CHOICE out of the bus, then sell the whole thing". We bid up the "choice" bid to $5 and won..... I SAID WE'LL TAKE 4 OF THEM...!!!! We jumped in that bus, pulled out a $150 Swamp Cooler, a box of chevy manuals, a box of old mirrors and nicknacks, and that Souix Valve Grinder. Was pretty sure when we piled out of the bus that the auctioneer would ask us what was in that very heavy box that required two men to carry out.... so I had a canned statement ready.... this gal smiles and asks me hey what's in that heavy box. Immediately I yell back... WING NUTS... LOTS OF WING NUTS. Funny thing is that the "family" complained that they didnt' know the old manuals were up in the bus, and asked the auctioneer to ask us if they could have the old manuals that belonged to their pappy. Seeing that the manuals were old and tattered, and then looking at our heavy box of so said "wing nuts" I smiled and said you are more than welcome to have the sentimental books. We took our wing nuts on out to the car. Wing nuts (aka valve grinder sold in excess of $400) and the swamp cooler brought about $150. Not bad for $10 investment. In other words folks... if you have sheds full of stuff piled up out back... you best sell that stuff now and go on a month long cruise ship... because you can't expect the auction staff to craw up in that dusty shed, nor can you expect your relatives to turn over every nut and bolt to make a dollar. Well.... I turned over near every nut and bolt and box in that old school bus and rest well knowing I did my job....!!!!!!!! In selling my SWAMP COOLER I saw a few of the bullet types.... I'd like to have a half a dozen of them..... ebay #4630870638, 4634267623, 4633792995
