    Home safe..but

I haven't dealt with it lately, but I think I had it replaced by a local auto electric shop. You know, the guy who has the reputation in town to figure out what the dealers can't. He's usually repairing other shop's errors. I finally learned to go to him FIRST. Maybe there's such a shop in your area. Dale

    Home safe..but

Does it still have the "christmas lights" cycle of the dash items? Both they and the logo are part of the keyless or lighted entry program. I learned this on my 89 Riv several years ago. Got the switch replaced on the door button which lighted the key escutcheon, and "bingo" the display came back. Dale
  3. Made a last minute decision to keep my extra 401 exhaust manifolds when I sold the 225 convert., in case my 64 Riv's crack. I know the heat riser area is different, but would the 401's bolt up to the 425? Dale
  4. Hi, Will try to attach the IAA page showing the red 89. If not, you can go to the site, and search auction lists for St.Louis. Good luck. Well, tried to attach the page, which I saved as a document, but it did not meet the profile. Send me an email, gibsonnut@aol.com and I will forward. Dale
  5. Shelby, Is this switch located near tranny linkage? I'm guessing that's how it gets moisture? I did disconnect the autolocks on my 84 Riv convert., but would much rather solve this problem than cover the symptom . Thanks for your input, will investigate and let you know. Dale
  6. I tried a search, but didn't come up with any previous thread, but the problem is one I had in my 84 Riv convert a few years ago, which the local auto electrical wizard could not solve. When in gear, the auto door locks will go through many cycles of lock/unlock, without regular timing, totally arbitrary. Anyone solved this one? Replace a solenoid? Tighten a ground? Any help appreciated. Dale
  7. Bob, Way to go! I look forward to Molly's result. Again, keep us posted. Dale
  8. Wondering the same thing. Dale
  9. Nic, I haven't looked at the ebay units, but for what it's worth, here is the number from the mint factory unit which came with the 90 convertible I just acquired. 22093186 Dale
  10. Only experience with R134 changeover is on my wife's Regal with 2.8 We learned the hard way, with a pressure burst, that rubber o-rings from original system, needed to be replaced with either neoprene or some such. Evidentally the lube in the R-134 is harmful to rubber. If you have a leak allowing lube to purge, it could be shelling out the compressors. Dale
  11. Malakai, I have some previous experience with a CD changer, I installed one in my 89 Riviera, same dash, etc. as your Reatta. I used a Pioneer unit, with 12 disc changer. I mounted the changer horizontally in the trunk, centered at the upper lip. In the Reatta, this may be able to be accessed from the center hatch, whereas on my Riv, it was via the trunk. The only thing that did was change my compass sensing, and I had to re-calibrate that. The neat thing about the Pioneer unit, was I could locate the display screen just above the console, and below the cassette door, it jumped right in ,and looked very factory. Dale
  12. Nice grin. Beats the large coke I dumped down the defroster ducts of a boattail Riv years ago, going over a driveway apron leaving Burger King....... Yes, it's the little things... Dale
  13. Curt, Worked like a charm, your info was dead on. Dale
  14. Thanks, Curt I spent the weekend helping my son-in-law repair his wife's Lumina fuel rail valve, and didn't get back to the convert. until late evening last night, so will look again today with a clearer head. Thanks again! Dale
  15. Are there varying versions of top operation hardware, switches, etc.? I have a 90, just got the car, pulled the 90 owner's manul out, and see pix of two switches in the driver's side door jamb area. They are not on my car. I see a manual lever inside the storage area, and it releases the rear bow. Any help would be appreciated. New to the convert., and the obvious is not jumping out at me. Dale
  16. Hey Nic, Thanks, and our hope is that the fix-up will coincide with top down weather. Dale
  17. Many may remember this string of posts in December. Well, the car is now in my possession, and it was quite a chore to land it. As referenced , the auction site in Detroit was only accessible by salvage dealers, but thanks to Dan Carney in Des Moines, Iowa, who owns the Lenders and Insurers Auto Auction, I managed to be linked to bid. My bid came up $125 short of the high bid, and phase two kicked in. The auction manager did make me aware of the high bidder, that he was a dealer, likely to have acquired it for resale. I contacted him, and for several weeks, while he considered my 61 Electra 225 convertible in swap, and rebuilt the front left strut, and left rear hub, I found a buyer for the 61. By early February, the suspension repair was done, and arrangements were made for transportation from Michigan to Iowa. The dealer is JD Metro Motors in Detroit, and Doug Everard the owner who was straight up in dealing with me. We agreed on a price quickly, a deal for us both, and The Car Chasers, Inc. of Des Moines dellivered it to my door this evening. For those who remember the photos at the site, it is black with tan, CD, 16way, tan top. I'll send full registration info to Barney, but just wanted to share the news, and thank those who first posted about the site, and car, and gave me the incentive to pursue it through to the end. The engine compartment is very clean, it runs smoothly, the top looks recent, the bladder holds air, and the keyless remote looks unused. There's work to do, windshield, left side fender and door, but to hit the light switch and have both pods salute was a real kick!! May have to change my screen name to plural..... Dale
  18. Sounds good, Bob, we look forward to their opinion. If it will be possible to produce in small quantities, cheaply, we can vary the shirt style, too. Maybe that's being too optomistic. Dale
  19. Ok Folks, The Ebay item number was 2404279663, and the design is on the rear of this shirt. My thought is to put it on the front. Thoughts? Dale
  20. Bob, and others, I sense a good deal of interest on the board, and am also certain we could gain a nice reproduction of the design from your original shirt. The black convertible is what really got my attn, as that is my next acquisition, a black 90 convert. I'll see if I can locate the ebay item number, and post it next. Others can view it for the next few weeks, until Ebay dissolves it from their site. Back in a few minutes with the item number. Dale
  21. Steve, Please send me the list. Thanks Dale gibsonnut@aol.com
  22. Bob, I appreciate your help, and will touch base with a couple of firms in my area who may also be able to digitally reproduce the design. Thanks again. Dale
  23. Bob, Thanks, yes, I communicated with the seller, because he sold two within 10 days, and I figured it was a new design, and asked if he had an outright sale price. He told me those were the only two he had, that he got them at a swap meet several years ago. If you find a way to reproduce them, or need participation in the costs of initial set up, let me know. Dale
  24. Ha, Maybe Barney's holding out on us. The uniqueness of the Reatta when introduced may have resulted in purchases by folks who are driven in limos, resulting in very low mileage examples.....How 'bout it , Barney, and stars among us? Dale
