  1. Daunting task to find an engine? Nope, I just traded a 1930 Pierce series A engine for another newer one I wanted as a spare. He got a numbers matching engine for his car that makes it correct, and I got a correct spare for mine. He is from Seattle Wa, and I'm from Western Mass. No money traded hands, just two car guys making a trade, both motors delivered to Hershey by friends at no cost. If anyone needs a Pierce motor just drop me a note, I have just about every year eight and twelve in all series on palet racks. YES that's a lot of engines, I just like to have lots of spares. Ed

  2. With more than 25 new worms installed over the last year and a half we are still getting some people who are asking about doing another run of worms for the Stutz Gemmer Box cars. Worms are made in batches of 5 or 10 and we have a few people on the waiting list. After this next run, I will close down this project for 5 years before we attempt to do it again. It just takes up too much time and capitial to offer this as an on-going project. If you need a box overhaul act now. More than half of all boxes do not need a new worm making the project much less expensive than a total replacment. Call the above number for more info. You can see a box in person at the Hershey fall meet in the RED FIELD RCH 39&40. Thanks, John 413-543-9017<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  7. I'll keep it VERY short. The ADA act is clear.....

Under Title III, no individual may be discriminated against on the basis of disability with regards to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, or accommodations of any place of public accommodation by any person who owns, leases (or leases to), or operates a place of public accommodation. "Public accommodations" include most places of lodging (such as inns and hotels), recreation, transportation, education, and dining, along with stores, care providers, and places of public displays, among other things.

Under Title III of the ADA, all "new construction" (construction, modification or alterations) after the effective date of the ADA (approximately July 1992) must be fully compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG)[1] found in the Code of Federal Regulations at 28 C.F.R., Part 36, Appendix "A".

If you need to use any type of device to be mobile, it is allowed, by federal law. Just be sure to bring a medicial car or letter stating the fact. PLEASE drive slow on the fields........Ed

  8. Besides being bottled and sold as Moxie, they also sell it by the drum. It's a red drum with yellow labels and they say SAFETY-KLEEN on them.. The only difference is while Moxie tastes like SAFETY-KLEEN it will not remove geese or crud off your parts. Ed.

  9. Koby, If you want to drive a Pierce Arrow eight or twelve, your welcome to take one of mine for a spin. I live just outside Springfield Mass. Just send me a email if your going to be in the area. Good luck with your car hunt, and remember....... PRE WAR ONLY!!!!!!!! :-) Ed

  10. Dale is correct, it's your car and do as you please. Just remember two things. Resale value and both CCCA and the Pierce Arrow Society will prohibit the car for functions. It will not be eligible for CCCA Grand Classics, Caravans, Annual Meetings, or any PAS meets or shows. I am not familiar with the Packard Clubs rules, bit I bet they won't allow it either. Sure...... there are LOTS of other places to play, but it will cut your options down quite a bit. Ed

  11. Yes...... I know of three Pierce Arrow cars converted. I would not do it to my car. They build cars called street rods...... old body with newer running gear and chassis........ why not just run a high speed gear, then you car is still ALL Packard. The problem is "creep" first it's a transmission, then electronic ignition, then 12 volts to start easier, then......... you get the idea. I think it's important that you remember the steering, brakes, suspension, etc are ALL below par with today's stuff. I have local friends who drive a car that many people call a XXXXXXX ( Insert very bad & offensive word here.). When is you car still an old car with all the changes added in? I have driven a 28 Packard and thought it was a fine car for the year it was built. Just drive it like a 28. To solve this problem myself, I got a 1936 Pierce with the factory overdrive that will cruise at 80 mph all day long. While it doesn't have the classic look of 1931 which is my favorite year, it fills the need when I need to do long over the road trips. Stay pure...... isn't that what makes our cars special? Better yet, show your wife my comments and explain to her why you need a 1938 Packard twelve for the garage. I am sure she will understand and approve. By the way, when driving the car with the modern transmission, it felt very strange to have a five speed with syncro's. It takes the old car feel away from the car. Ed

  12. There are no easy answers to this problem, I have a spot with five other people and a total of 18 spaces. All of our 18 spaces are actively used and displayed. BUT we also have a parking space at the back side of the field where we just park our truck. We deliver heavy parts to it all week long that we buy on the field. Also we bring and display a VERY expensive inventory of parts. Each night we load up all the very high end stuff to be sure it does not grow feet. Last year we lost over 800 dollars in stolen stuff. I have been attending the fall meet since 1971 and this may be our last year of a big display with a commercial tent, cars, and parts. Costs of fuel to and from the meet, hotels, spaces, theft, time off from work, and a slowing of the economy; as well as pre war slowdown in car stuff is making us revaluate weather or not to sign up for 2013. We sell all year long on the Internet, and with digital photos and you tube video, it's much easier to deal over the net. As the old song goes........ "The times they are a changen."
