Whats up with the 2002 Rendezvous? Consumer Reports rating?
NCBRIJEN replied to NCBRIJEN's topic in Buick - General
"If you use the CU reliability reports for general trend analysis, you can see how a later year model of a particular vehicle (after the platform model change) can have better ratings than that first year of production. ALSO, in this orientation, by the time that first-model year of vehicle would be on the used car lot, all of the noted problems should have been fixed under warranty--usually with the same parts that got the higher ratings for the later versions of that vehicle." NTX5467: Your comment above really relaxed my concerns about the 2002 model year. Since the last two years were recommended buys and the 2002 did not rank initially high I was hesitant. However as I thought about it more and more I have never ever looked at Consumer Reports before my purchase of a Buick ever before and have always enjoyed each model to the fullest extent. I have never hesitated before on Buick and I don?t plan to second guess my decision to keep purchasing a Premium American Motorcar even if they are now built in Mexico. Thanks for everyone?s input. -
Whats up with the 2002 Rendezvous? Consumer Reports rating?

Norb: Thanks for the reply, does your son still have the Rendezvous and did the problems cease to exist after the repair was made or are they recurring problems? Thanks, Brian -
I was reading through my Consumer Reports magazine this weekend and took a look at the rating on the 2002 Rendezvous... They even go so far as to rate it as a used car to avoid? My wife and I were just looking at a used 2002 and now read this report. My question to the forum is.. Does anyone have a 2002 Rendezvous and agree with their rating or should we always trust Buick as we have done in the past and have never regretted it. We appreciate your comments.

FYI: I just updated the autotrader.com advertisement with a few more pictures, I think I will add a picture of the motor and undercarriage as well what do ya'll think?
-
I recently had the dealer replace my left turn signal which cost me $15.00. At least it works again.

Still available.... **give me a call or e-mail me if anyone is interested or has a question. NCBRIJEN@MSN.COM THANKS

Thanks Padgett. I will see how I can add/change the autotrader ad when it comes up for renewal. I just know that this Reatta is worth the asking price although I will consider others as well. My biggest fear is that someone will want to part it out or "pimp it up". I actually am not in a hurry to sell it but my wife is pushing for a Rendezous. Maybe I can get her to wait for the Buick Enclave? **give me a call or e-mail me if anyone is interested or has a question. NCBRIJEN@MSN.COM THANKS

Randy, Thanks for your words of reassurance on my asking price; I believe it to be quite reasonable especially after seeing some of the poor beat up Reattas around and their asking price. I would like to get my asking price since I have recently replaced all four struts, four new brake pads and read caliper, replaced all speakers with Polks audio and installed four new tires this spring, however any reasonable offer is considered. Your mention of the steering wheel, the steering wheel is in perfect condition what you see in the picture is a leather grip cover which I have placed on to protect the original steering wheel.

OUR 1989 SILVER BUICK REATTA. -

If the undercarriage is as rusted as the rear wheel well I would just look for a good southern Reatta with Zero rust and use your car as a parts car. Once rust that bad starts you will never stop it and any money that you spend will be in vain. Good Luck

If you feel like driving the Reatta to Charlotte, North Carolina I can suggest Ed Graham at Folger Buick on East Independance Blvd. One of Ed's specialities is maintance on the Reatta and has maintained my Reatta perfectly for years, not to mention Ed also knows everything about the Teves brakes as well. Here is the website if interested. http://www.folgerautomotive.com/en_US/

I had this occur on my 1990 Reatta convertible. I pulled off the road immediately and jumped out thinking that the airbag was going to deploy? The smoke stream stopped and I continued my ride home (5 hours) without further incident ever again and everything always worked fine. That was one of the strangest and unsettling experiences while driving any Reatta that I have ever owned. I never found out what caused the smoke stream but since I never had any other incident of problem with the car I never investigated further.

question about response to an ad on autotrader?
NCBRIJEN replied to NCBRIJEN's topic in Buick Reatta
Thanks all for confirming my belief that this is a sad case of FRAUD that is so blatantly that I wonder how these guys can even look at themselves in the mirror. Needless to say that I confronted the person with an e-mail and I have yet to receive a reply. Anyone on the forum interested in purchasing my Reatta? If you?re interested you can check it out @ www.autotrader.com under zip code 28216 or e-mail me for info. Thanks for all the comments; I am surprised to see how many folks have also been approached by this same scam. -
Hey all, I thought that I would share with everyone here a response I received for my ad selling my 1989 Reatta. I Beleive there is something fishy about the transaction, ideas? Attn: ******, I have contacted my client about the transaction, and he is willing to purchase and proceed for payment of your car as soon as possible. It has been concluded and accepted by my client, and he has instructed me to carry on with the transaction, he said that I should inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $9,000 which includes (the cost of your car, shipping charges, company's commission and balance in previous transaction) Due to company's policy this check has to be made out to you in this amount because company policy only allows full payment on one cashier check, so you are required to deduct cost of your car $5,000 when payment gets to you and refund balance of $4,000 to my shipper via western union money transfer to enable the shipper to offset shipping charges, and other outstanding monies which am supposed to balance my agent on a previous transaction,After payment has reached you and balance sent back to the shipper, shipper's agent will come for inspection of the car, test drive the car, after which the car will be moved to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer's destination. While Title papers and other necessary documents will be signed and picked up by the agent. Please Confirm this and provide your FULL NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBERS for payment to be delivered to you as soon as possible. Thank you. Gary. NB: You are required to send pictures of the exterior and interior parts of the car for him to confirm that car is in good condition.
