  2. Thanks very much for the info! $37 plus the ship charge is OK. I remembered, I thought, a hundred dollars cost- maybe that was for the Volvo trunk cylinders- which I got rid of! Thanks again!
  3. Is there any option to replacing the gas cylinders for the hood and trunk? All are in need of replacement. I use a telescoping paint handle to hold the hood open now. The trunk is smaller and lighter so it is not the problem the hood is. Old spring hood-and trunk- mechanisms worked great and didn't require replacement! If gas cylinders are the only fix, where is a good source? I have a 1990 Driftwood coupe. Thanks!
  4. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your better than good experience and treatment when getting your car painted. Mine needs the hood and doors done and I'm all ears about getting it done on my Reatta. Thanks again for your excellent experience story!
  5. I'd like to hear about your 2-laps around the Michigan International Speedway!
  6. Greetings, All! I just put the photos of the Reattas in the Crenwelge Dealership in Fredericksburg, Texas on cardomain.com. The website for the pics of that '91 white convertible with 300 miles on it is: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2334752 Check it out!
  7. I bought my one and only '90 Driftwood in 1998 when I was 50. I'm 57 now. I drive it to work every day, about 2 minutes. I am inclined to fix this one up really well rather than get another one. It had 91K in '98 and has 104K now, eight years later. I paid $7,900 in '98. Love it!
  8. Looks like no photos got attached. I'll work on that!
  9. Greetings, All! Last Saturday in Fredericksburg, Texas, I took the attached photos of two Reattas in the old Crenwelge Buick Dealership. F14Crazy gave the heads-up about these cars. It was an overcast day and the building was closed, but I got a couple of pictures of the white Reatta with 300 miles on it. I can't imagine we'd ever see one with fewer miles, so it might just be the most cherry Reatta in America! Even the wheels were an attention getter! A second red Reatta had a current inspection sticker and looked really excellent as well. The old dealership was a treat, too. My brother-in-law says locals want the building torn down because of it not being in harmony with older theme buildings in town. It looked like 50's history that should not be lost to me! I'd love to see the inside of that white car! F14Crazy, did you get to see the inside? How do you know it has only 300 miles on it?
  10. I'm very glad to know about those Reattas in Fredericksburg! I'm going there in two weeks and will be sure to check 'em out, especially the one with 300 miles on it! Thanks for the heads-up!
  11. One thing that is bothering me every time I get into my car is that the outside rubber gasket around the mirror looks dry-rotted. It is pitted and looks OLD! I noticed the passenger side mirror looks similar. Are new rubber gaksets available? Is it a tough job to replace those?
  12. I almost hate to admit this, but I thought my Reatta looked so aerodynamic, how fast can it go? I ought to get on a track and check it out legally, but I've hit 112mph real quick, late at night, all alone on a toll road, then slowed it down, since I'm definitely not wanting to get a ticket for speeding! It was not topped out at 112. Might anyone know or have any experience in this area? Theoretically speaking, of course!

    Customizing

Duke- I agree with you 100%, emphatically, about not hacking the wiring: rigging non-standard wires and color coding. I promise to do it by code! I am wanting to replace the blown original speakers that are now fuzzing out at even moderate volume. I have read another thread with specific speaker recommendations by manufacturer and size. I figure new technology with polypropylene components are made for the new mega-power amplifiers and won't blow out again since I'm not doing extra loud music any longer. Thanks!

    Customizing

I'd start out "Any opinions..." but I see there is no shortage of opinions in this group!!! I APPRECIATE 'em, too! About steering wheels- I don't like mine- the plastic is wrinkled a little and one horn button cover is off. It just looks old. I don't care about the air bag. What would look GOOD? If there is no problem substituting a custom wheel electronically.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions! Brian, thanks for the website for the Corvette foam cowl blocker. I'll try one and see if the material works, or for ideas for the Reatta. I was not thinking about something to stay in there that looked good. I was thinking only of a blocking cover while parked. I did use my Weedeater to blow out debris since I don't have a compressor at home! It helped! Bryon
