  1. My son has a 1991 Buick Skylark 2.5 Cid 4 Cyl. The car came with 185x75x14. The car was purchased new with that size tire on it, as indicated by the sticker on the door jam. If I remember correctly the OEM tires were Michelin. Well that size tire has been discontinued by most major manufactures. Their are still a few manufactures around BUT they are becoming more scarce as time goes by. I have done some research looking at some conversion charts BUT cannot come up with something that gives the EXACT revolution per mile or I feel comfortable that will not rub on the fender. Any suggestions appreciated!
  2. How about the intake manifold gasket??? I had a coolant leak in that area and it was running down the front of the motor over the water pump.Fortunately it was not running inside the motor.

My dealer with a seasoned Tech who knows my car has no problem installing my parts that I may supply from Jim Finn especially when they are N L A. At least they make the $95 per hour Labor rate.
  4. The MOST important thing to take with you are the correct tools. Seems I always forget the ones needed to remove something I need for my stash.
  5. It would not pass our state inspection in Pennsylvania.
  6. We have a 1999 Riviera that we keep in storage most of the winter on nice days we take it out and drive it about 100 or 200 miles and cap it off with Sunoco Ultra before returning it to the garage. Sometimes it may sit a month or 6 weeks or it may sit 2 weeks. Was wondering thoughts on when I should use fuel stabilizer? We are still at 10% Ethanol in my area I believe. Thanks
  7. I purchased 20 gallons of gasoline and immediately treated with StaBil. It is stored in my shed for snowblowers and Lawnmowers. I am concerned about my 1989 and 1999 Riviera's we have in storage.
  8. Just read that the EPA has approved a change from 10% to 15% for Ethanol in gasoline with a note for 2007 cars or newer. Any thoughts on what we are to do to keep our older cars on the road and running properly ? Their goes the gas mileage! Lets not go political on this one Please!
  9. I used the bolts with lock washers and locktite BUT they came loose after some time. Perhaps I should havd double Lock nut them ???
  10. I use nothing but OEM stuff whenever I can.
  11. Leaf blower a good idea. Before Mr. Clean I use to take for a fast ride return and wipe it down. I can switch my garage to hot water for car washing, since the Hot water comes thru the water softner it makes it easier. Have Fun before cold weather arrives!
  12. The rinse system is great. Even with a black car just rinse, it take it for a ride and put it in the garage. No streaks
  13. In the dishwasher on pots and pans NO SOAP no heat dry.
  14. Amazon has soap and filters. I like it on the Black car.
  15. I believe 1 washer on each hose. Good idea to replace hoses when they get old even if they look good on outside. They go bad on inside and can restrict brake fluid from releasing the caliber. Part of regular service on a 20 year old car.
  16. Another good point. The ones that bent were the aftermarket I replaced a number of years ago following the manual's instructions. Fortunately I kept the original ones in my stash of stuff. That got me up and running. Seems none of the local suppliers stocked caliber bolts for this application. I order 4 new after market bolts from Autozone for $7.99 each. Think I will keep for next R & R of front brakes. Thanks again! Another reason why this board is the best! Wish the group over at the Cadillac board was as helpful!
  17. Nemo. That is the best explanation I have heard and makes sense to me. Thanks
  18. I just replaced the front brake pads on my 1989 Riviera. Non Tevis systen. Regular brakes. The caliber bolts on the Right Front were bent. I would appreciate any thoughts. Iwas told by a friend it may have been the result of a Panic stop. This makes no sence to me! I have replaced the bolts when doing thr R&R and car is fine. Any thoughts Appreciated. Thanks
  19. I would find the Riviera board more useful if they would break it down by Generation. Reatta owners could participate in the 7th Generation Riviera and share information.
  20. At 142K the clutches are worn out. As it slips more the fluid will get dark and smell burnt.
  21. The nice part about using the CRT is that you know exactly what your transmission is doing.
  22. You can go into the computer screen and select BCM while driving down the road and on the bottom of the screen watch each shift light up 2 3 4 and TCC. Your TCC should lock up around 45 MPH plus or minus. This was very helpful when my transmission tech was adjusting TV cable and the Modulator on my 1989 Riviera.(2:84 axle ratio) Good Luck
