  2. Sorry, I meant to say "his post". Your original post was not really the way to go about finding parts for your project and the edited post is much improved. I think Pete's suggestion for posting photos and providing more information will help too.
  3. I think minus the whitewalls I would probably like the wheel treatment. Historically you would only see Stainless spokes with painted rims on v16 caddy but it seems to be spreading. Do you know any of the history of this particular car? Btw, the Lasalle looks good in the solid color.
  4. Beautiful car. Of course, I question the stainless spokes with painted rims and I'm not sure about the hood ornament. Any other pictures of it in it's pre-restoration shape?
  5. Unless it's a car that came with factory whitewalls, Cord 810/812, 53/54 Packard Caribbean, etc, they should be black. My opinion only of course. Whenever I see a prewar Classic with whitewalls the first thought that goes through my mind is how much better it would look with appropriate (NON-radial) blackwalls.

  9. This car was used in a postcard that I have some where. I don't have a serial number but we could probably figure it out by process of elimination.

  12. Emile, It would help if you posted a picture of it. Brochures can go anywhere from $20.00 to $400 or more depending on what they are and the condition. However, I don't know that much about earlier brochures. A.J.

  14. Not sure who is cranking the Maserati. It just looked like an ARCA picture to me and with the date & location it was pretty easy.
  15. The first car on the left # 3 is Lem Lad driving a Ford V-8 Special. The car on the right #53 is George Rand driving a Maserati. The race is the ARCA sponsored Montauk Grand Prix.

  17. If I were you I would feel comfortable advertising it as a Locke Sportsman's coupe. I'm pretty sure that is what it is. It is super cool and I hope you can find someone who will restore it.
  18. To help sell it I would take a bunch more pictures in better detail. Try to get a scan of the old ones in a decent resolution too. Document in as much detail as possible your knowledge of the history of the car. A very unique and worthwhile project for someone. I think if you were sitting in the chocolate field with this you would have no problem selling it but the distance will make it tougher as a U.S. buyer or European will have to buy sight unseen.   19. Depending on what the cars are the higher end houses may pass. The smallest take I've ever seen RM get involved with was the Steven's sale in NY state. I want to say the whole load ended up being 3.5 million. Depending on the exact deal RM should have grossed around 400-500k minus some significant expenses. "Museum Quality" is one of those phrases that is used by people outside the hobby to describe what they (usually incorrectly) deem as superior condition cars. I put it in the same category as using "Classic" to describe a 65 Mustang :-). As posted before, selling 100 cars is a pile of work. You can either pay someone to do the work or do the work yourself but the work remains.

  21. Just as an aside, "museum quality" means different things to different people. To me it means a bunch of cars that have not been maintained. Most museums are not the Nethercutt collection. The trade off is simple, if you don't want to pay a professional auction house to do the work then you need to do it yourself via ebay. This will take longer and require much more effort on the seller's part. There is no guarantee that you make more money doing it yourself. Barret Jackson does not do on site estate auctions. Depending on the cars RM, Bonhams, Christies, and perhaps Gooding would be appropriate for higher end cars. There are many regional outfits that would be appropriate for liquidating lesser cars. As for the Miller Stutz auction, if it was held today they would do it the same way. The prices realized were crazy and everyone who was into Stutz participated.
