4. Dear M.L.,Thanks for taking the time to respond, very interesting stuff.Just got home from the garage, this info. will get my brain in gear again as i am stripping old finish off my 39 Zephyr coupe which is a rather BORING task.diz
5. Please explain to me why the bank angle would have any thing to do with how smooth the engine runs. Thanks for printing the other info, interesting stuff.diz
6. Dear Critterpainter,You say your car is straight, does that mean it does not have any dings or dents? When i used all that hi-build primer,99.9 percent of it landed on the floor, reminds me of finishing drywall. That WAVE you see on so many cars can be eliminated by sanding your ass off with ,a long stick or long rubber block, that means from the primer to the clearcoat or single stage what-ever you prefer. When sanding, coarse paper cuts the high spots while a finer grit will ride over them.As always just my 2-cents.diz
7. Anybody want to point[i could have said steer]me towards the right place to get my 39 Lincoln Zephyr wheel restored.Thank you,diz
8. You guys are going to think iam nuts, took me 1 year from stripping off the old to water sanding and rubbing the clearcoat.I never did any body work before so it was an education.NEVER EVER did i think SO much BLOCKING was involved. From blocking the urethane hi build primer[5 times]to blocking the clearcoat 1200 to 1500 to 2000 then rubbing with 2 different compounds.BORING yes but when you look down the side and it is absolutely laser straight all that blocking is forgotten. diz
9. Wanted Steering wheel for my 39 Lincoln Zephyr, nos, restored, very nice original Thanks Dale Grahner 716-885-3507 phaeton37@aol.com
10. At the present time i am going through my 39 Zephyr coupe that was RESTORED 20 years ago and not driven much since.Never ceases to amaze me the way some people do things.THEY can not really think they did it the right way,can they.Kind of tough to get the headlight lens to seal with NO cork to seal to the bucket. We don't really want to discuss the wiring,do we? Nothing i can't straighten out ,but just everthing you touch, you know you can make it better or nicer or just neater. Thanks for letting me [censored],diz

12. Upon further thought,ANY big block will do,ANY diesel will do,DO yourself a BIG favor, get yourself the STRONGEST transmission available with whatever engine you decide.NEVER had any engine problems, only trans.problems.As always just my 2 cents diz
13. I can only speak from my own experences.the longer the wheelbase the smoother the ride.As for power depends on you being a Ford,Chevy,Dodge guy.I used a 454 Suburban for years,NO problems, i also borrowed a pals extended cab Ford pick-up with turbo diesel for power.YAHOO,nothing like a little TORQUE,both got pretty good fuel mileage as long as you stayed under 70 mph.As always just my 2-cents.diz

18. I guess it it the same old story. After you spend a million hours or a million dollars wharever the case may be,do you REALLY want to take it out on the road and devalue it or destroy it? Everybodys different, you guys all know how anal a nut and bolt restoration can be.My dad and i had our biggest arguments over how nice our 37 Ford phaeton was to be finished. The 39 Zephyr is being put together to be DRIVEN,after all ,looking at the big picture whats more important the correct finish on some chassis hardware or getting along with dad.diz
