All oils are NOT the same. A gentleman with the most perfect 54 I have seen since they were new,lost TWO camshafts one right after the other,and with a NAME BRAND oil (which will remain nameless at this time). He was disturbed to say the least! I explained to him that zinc-dialkyl-dithiophosphate additive in oil protected the camshaft,and now and then a supplier "cheated"and told him this doesn't happen with my favorite brand.He switched to Valvoline and no more camshaft problem.

A later model updraft from a COE truck or even a farm tractor makes a good "driver" carburetor. I have a NOS on hand. Used one on my 23 Buick to replace the old pot-metal unit and it worked perfectly.Zenith and Carter made VERY GOOD updraft carburetors

Have sold well over 200 ,one wire alternators. If you can belt up a one wire unit,hook the two large leads(from the regulator)
together, use The big lead,(which was the "A" lead to the generator) to the one post on the alternator , and GO!

I have sold well over 200 6 volt alternators with good results. Better lights,no maintinance,less than 1 percent failure rate. This with a good headlight relay will optimize 6 volt operation.

I did it by putting a 53 frame under it. Not as hard as you might think. Had to use 53 tie-rod (longer)and I put 6 volt field coils in a 53 V8 starter and kept 6 volts.Be sure the 53 frame is for that body (big 4 drs were longer than 2 drs)

When I mentioned it could be the vent, I should have mentioned one more thing. WATER in the transmission ! A leaking cooler will put water into your unit. The oil temperature can greatly exceed the boiling point of water,so steam will cause overflow also. To emphasize a point I mentioned earlier, If you find a Buick that has had an underhood fire,could have been a belching filler tube. Working on Dynaflows since 1947 (in Flint).Ralph Crisp BCA 2399

I was of the same mind a few years ago.Sold a dozen or so,down to my dream car ,a 41 Super and have to sell it as I can no longer drive it. I hope someone who appreciates a GOOD car comes along to rescue it !1

Plugged breather can cause overflow and FIRE ! Been there .

The FIRST thing you check is the fuel pump, the vacuum section.

If you had a 48,engine mounts make 41 Buick compound carburetion difficult to install. With your 47,putting compound carburetion would be a breeze,ALL BUICK and neat. (maybe you could be included in the registry?)
