  1. The pressures should regulate at 100 & 200 lbs.If you can't get them at low idlle, rev the engine a bit. No pressure to start with could be worn pummp, plate or both.. Low pressure when you rev the engine sounds like pump cant get enough oil. Be sure to serve your mechanic some "Lutefisk"(invite me for some)

  2. i WAS bUICK INSTRUCTOR WHEN THIS WAS NEW.ON BUICKS THERE WAS A "LEVELING" VALVE. I THINK YOU CAN ADJUST HEIGHT WITH IT,GIVE IT A TRY. I HAVE A SPARE COMPRESSOR FOR SALE CHEAP .

  3. This was a feature of 58 & 59 Buicks equipped with Flight_pitch transmissions. It was used for descending long hills ,same as downshiting a SM equipped car. (keeps you from overheating the brakes).Do NOT try to use it for drag-racing!

  4. I married a Hansen, her father came from Denmark,so I love Danes!!! If you were here in Omaha,I personally would help rebuild you unit I am the guy who has been working on Dynaflows since 1947. (worked on them in Flint before they were introduced)BCA 2399

  5. First of all, there are two units for 55,the longer fits 50 & 70 series, the shorter,40 & 60 series. If you try to use a 54,you will have no detent, the shift lever would fall out of"P",possibly dropping down to"L". The 56 units came one length,I think it's about the length of the longer 55. Working on Dynaflows since 1947. (In Flint,Michigan then) Ralph

  6. I hooked a ST400 onto a 63 401, BUT, I had to use a 64-66 crankshaft and flex-plate. The 63 block is different as far as the THRUST main. The 64-66 thrust main will no go into a 63-earlier block. ,but the 64-66 crank worked fine. Car lived to a ripe old age,no problems. I have a 65 ST 300,we drag raced with it and couldn't tear it up,We replaced it with a 400,and it was not all that much better than the 300. We used VP to our advantage. Incidentally, our "Nailhead"won the Gold cup that year, thanks to William Trevor's help,(also thanks to "Sig" Erson)

  7. There is no better filter than AC. One of my duties was to ascertain why an engine failed and TOO often it was a "rag"(cotton mill waste), or"Weed" filter,(filled with marsh grass). I had consierable experience with both,as they were made locally. The worst failure I saw in 30 years was when a farmer put non-detergent oil and "Depth-Design"(part paper and part rag)filter on a new Buick.Every moving part on the engine was scored. When my product repoAs rt hit Flint, a B.P.S. was sent to all Buick Dealers warning about oil specs. (read it yourself, mid 61 Bulletins). As far as filters are concerned, there are two reasons to sell a filter, one to make money two,to protect the product. The latter does not exist with after-market filters in some cases. The absolute WORST filters I have ever seen were "Rag" and "Depth-design"filters,and the latter was highly advertised.. I always use OE filtera.
