1. I agree Bill. It is absolutely gorgeous up here in Colorado in the fall. However, being that I am disabled, I will probably spend time playing with my cars, visiting my son and writing. I need to get the new article ready for my club in Houston. After that, I will spend time reading. Just another quiet day in the neighborhood.
2. That sounds like quite a ride! Do you drag it or just show it? And are cars like that street legal? I am not sure what the line of demarcation is for that. I would LOVE to see pics of your car, man. Check out mine on the photo post...they aren't too hot, except the Olds (455, quadrajet, T400 trans...woof). http://www.aaca.org/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=2845
3. Thank you for changing the icon, Tyrone. We understand self-expression and encourage it within reason. The 'within reason' part is where we all tend to run afoul. Please remember, that while we all have the right to express ourselves, those to whom we do so also have the inalienable right to object. It is what living in a society means. No one here wants to change you from Tyrone to someone else, we simply request a little forethought and consideration in self-espression...that goes for everyone here. Thanks again. Now personally I would like to hear a little more about your rod!!!
4. Congratulations on the car and your son's baptism. I think that is wonderful. I was visiting my son yesterday so I missed the thread. I look forward to seeing pictures as you go along.
5. FREE KKs?? And I missed. Poo!
6. I second Peter and Wayne in this. Let's get together and work on this as a team. It will make the job more enjoyable and keep a continuous eye on events. I am still not sure whether he was an agitator, a ghost (someone pretending to be something they are not) or simply an overzealous person trying too hard to fit in. It really does not matter. I think the club and forum spoke defining where it wants to go. I feel proud and very pleased to be part of it. Thank you for this opportunity.
7. Dear Mr. Price. Thank you for the response. I know we all appreciate your efforts and at least I can rest assured that your extinguisher will work within the confines of the car hobby. I am impressed with its abilities and look forward to learning more about it technically. However, you will understand that many of us have been promised much only to recieve little. Scepticism is our only defense, and while I do not pretend to apologise for it, I hope you understand that many will be watching for the data when it comes in. Hopefully the Dandy Dinky will stand up for its name. Thank you.
8. That is interesting, Dave. I did the same thing when my son was born in 1984. My wife at the time was an up and coming young business woman, and planned to continue her lucritive career. I was in the Phd program at Dedman college, Southern Methodist University, in Archaeology at the time. With his birth, I chose to drop out to care for him since his mother was on the road a great deal of the time. It is a decision that has haunted me ever since but I still maintain it was the RIGHT decision. My needs were secondary to those of my family. When he was old enough to go into pre-school, I started working part time as a text entry programmer at her company. That is what launched me into computers. 5 years later I was Systems Programmer on an IBM MainFrame, VM/SP 5 & 6, plus an early PC peer-to-peer network. We divorced in 1991 and I left to go to work for IBM, the State of Texas, and McAfee amoung others. Since my forced retirement due to disability, I have learned that while having free time is nice, I would much prefer to be working. The more I am on this forum, the more I learn about cars, the hobby and interestingly enough, current events. To wit I have begun to open my mind to the state of the union and what is going on. I have always loathed politics, but I am getting more interested in knowing particulars to current events directly due to this forum and the exchanges held therein.
9. I was beginning to think that myself. Apparently I misread the entry or misconstrued it. Either way, it is a beautiful car. I'm happy with it!
10. Howard, I would LOVE to scarf down some KKs with you...with a good cup of joe too. But Rockie Mountain Oysters? Oh I think not thank you. I've seen too many hanging below Dodges and Ford trucks lately. (Have you SEEN them? I mean talk about OVER THE TOP) Sheesh. Organ meat is not my cup of tea. Ugh. Now I have to find the Malox.
11. There you go, Sky! Perfect! Vigilence and enjoyment go hand in hand. I do not mind the banter, in fact I participate, but if the problem is serious it should be addressed.
12. Oh now STOP! You are turning my head, and its giving me a stiff neck All of the moderators do a great job. It is not easy to make decisions to ban or move posts. These take deep consideration and a level head. Unfortunately we do not always see what they have to do to come to that decision. It is never arbitrary, but at times it looks that way. I know I felt miffed at the one Sal deleted, but while miffed, I also understood and was dismayed that he got the wrong impression of me. I am admittedly a Devil's advocate ... I have been called Satan's Little Helper more than once, but it comes with being intelligent, curious and above all, determined to question and be involved. Being disabled makes that tough, but now I can be again and I feel good about it.

What will fit?

Yes, Welcome G's55. All I can say, AIK, is maybe I should buy a Packard. It would look great next to my '47 Caddy. Maybe a 1950. Hmmmm. Wish I had the money for that one. I would love to get a chance to ride in a Packard, especially the 50s models. I have been following this forum very closely and realise how special the Packard is to American automotive history. So many cars, so little time and money. sigh. :'(
14. I second Ron's appreciation. I have been looking for a good all purpose extinguisher for some time and have followed this and the previous thread carefully. I would also like to know about the pound limitation both as compensorary to the AACA rules and in its effectiveness. While I make absolutely certain the engine is clean, you cannot guard against every possible eventuality. I would like to know that the extinguisher I purchase will protect my valuable car and myself in the event of a catastrophic event. Thank you so much for your detailed post.
15. My feeling exactly, Sky. I have volunteered and will soon be taking up the mantle of Moderator to help with this forum. Europeancarnut made a good point though, and I thought it through. I am on this forum for the most part every day. I read a good 45% of the posts generally anyway so it won't be a problem to read them all in a given day. I have also done this both as a volunteer and as a living for many years. So it seemed reasonable and correct. I am looking forward to getting more involved. What we all can do as users, is to monitor as we go. Enjoy the forum and all it has to offer, but if you see something that is off color or offensive, particularly conflicts between posters, then report it to one of us. We will handle it and hopefully get everything back on track. Now could someone please tell me how to stop my car from leaking like a screen door in a sub?
16. NTX, after I lost my beautiful '69 Olds, I thought what the hey! I will rent a Buick to see what they are like. I see an awful lot of older/retired folk driving Centurys and the like so maybe I might like a fairly new Buick. This would be the perfect opportunity to test drive one. Uh huh I could not find a rental agency that either had them or had any mid-size to full size cars available. This is with a week or more notice mind you. The best they could do was a minivan. sigh. So I bought an Eldorado in #2 condition. Where were all the rentals? Just curious.
17. Thanks, John. I think I will check on it tomorrow. Since I check the transmission fluid from the front seat, maybe there is a place to get to the brake reservoir? I will look. Also tomorrow is my day to take off the driver's door panel and see if I can fix the door handle. I have been procrastinating.

Thanks

I guess that is good so I know where I stand.
19. RO, just curious in how you are doing with this problem. Have you had any success in divining the problem? I just like to keep up to date on it. Good luck, my friend!
20. Wayne, with those front teeth, that is what I call my Bugs Bunny smile. I wrote in one of my posts that it might be a good idea to put our pictures on the icon so we could all see who is on the other end. I am as good as my word, or Photoshop as it were. It is easy to do, even with Paint, as long as you have a cropping tool. Find your favorite self image, bring it up at 100% scale, then crop the face. Now save it as either a web image or a JPG using the smallest possible file size. That will reduce the resolution but won't effect the image since it is so small to start with. The smaller the physical file size the better. Then simply upload it to your profile. Ces fini!

Thanks

Both Amphi and Dave@moon have become some of my favorite posters. Always informative and entertaining. Where is Dave now? I have missed his entrys. John, you are always pleasant and fun...keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
22. I would like a job like that too. I miss working! What I really want is a 1956 Cadillac ... I just saw a BEAUTY in the Self-Starter Black on Black and white for $18000. WAH! They are getting too expensive for me! I would have to sell both the '47 and the '77 to pony that up, and that does not leave me enough for tax, title and necessary repairs. sigh. Being disabled bites in this, or any economy. On the other subject of this thread...nollo contendere. Salve, amici!
23. Yes, Wayne, that is my smiling face. That was taken at McDonald's bookstore when I was stumping for my book. None sold, but poetry rarely does. Still it was fun to do. Heck, I ain't old! I'm only 47 going on 90!
24. You are certainly welcome, Ken! And Welcome to the Forum. As you have noted this is a great bunch of men and women all interested in cars of all kinds. I love the VW and have owned several with the same, happy results. Any opinion or information you have is something we can all enjoy and share. I am just a user but I have come to really enjoy these verbal romps.
25. That sounds like a WONDERFUL Antique <G> car! Restorer32, could you give a brief history as you know it and maybe a picture of the car itself? I am fascinated by the very early machines and would love to know more. Thank you!
