  1. Ed,

Not so quick on the miles thing. I've seen several first gen Rivs with that kind of miles. My 64 Riv has 56K original. It had 49K in 83 when I first bought it. There are plenty of low mile cars out there, I had a 69 Electra with 8000 miles a couple of years ago. I missed a 63 Riv a couple of winters ago with about 22K original miles.

They are out there, but you do need to be careful.

  2. The bezels are the same but the lenses and the emblems are different 63 to 64. The 63 have a round emblem, the 64's an oval one and they are not interchangeable unless you want to have 63 emblems and lenses in your 64. The recess that the emblem fits into is shaped like the emblem, hence no interchange.

I've had an easier time finding 63's than 64's. Also finding good core bezels for rechroming is getting tougher.

  6. This is not the forum for ROA board members to reach out to their membership. The ROA members need to decide what they want to do, stay independent, become a division of BCA, fold or do something else completely.

Many ROA members are not now and never will be members of BCA. I'm guessing here, Dick Sweeney help me please, ROA has in the neighborhood of maybe 3K to 4K members internationally. ROA leadership needs to communicate with the whole membership directly.

My guess is that this is going to take some time to settle out. I have not seen any more discussion of this topic on the ROA email list so I don't know if it is being censored or just not discussed there.

I am hoping to see something official form the ROA leadership to the members soon about the who, what , where, why, and how regaurding of the future of the club.

  9. I very confused about when the local chapter gets money from National. As the Treasurer of the Chicagoland Chapter I have never seen a check cut from National for local dues in the six or so years I have had this position. I have forwarded the National dues to the BCA when a new members joins locally so we can be sure that they are also BCA members.

Its all marginal cost analysis but without knowing how the Books are compensated for handling renewals and what if any additional time or cost for electronic renewal vs paper/snail mail, deposit tickets and postage/milage to the bank it is too difficult to estimate if they cost/reward is worth it. My guess is it would be because of the added efficiency after the program is up and running.

On the other hand locally we have allowed multi year memberships so people do not have to worry about renewals every year and it has been a welcomed additional service.
