fix up help

What kind of truck? FC150 or FC170? I was into the Willys stuff with my dad's Jeepster, my St. Wagon. I love the FC pickups and know some one that has one. Let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.
  8. First thing I would do would be to drain all the old gas and oil. Replace with new also changing fuel filter and oil filter. I would also carry an extra fuel filter in case there is trash in the tank that plugs up the first new one. Also, I wouldn't start the car until either removed distrib and primed the oil pump and oiling system or at min., disable the ign. and crank the engine over with the starter to get some oil up in the engine before actually starting the engine. I dread the moisture problem and the dry start. That's only my opinion. What else do other DFer's suggest?
  9. Just reminding SalG i'm "interested "in riding with him to the meet. And replying mainly to put this back on top as time is drawing nearer. little over 2 weeks.
  10. Mud?? in my flea market spot? NEVER. I'm one of the blessed ones with a spot on the old airstrip. No problems yet getting my Dodge dually diesel through the ailses. 9,000 lbs on six tires with a positraction rear provides pretty good traction. knock on wood...I mean sheet metal. Watch. I bragged, I'll get stuck this year.

Okay Howard, I'll let it slide this time. I agree with you on the "impractical" reversed cap deal. If only the younger people could really get a good look at themselves and know where some of this "fashion" comes from I think they'd clean up thier act.
  12. Ted, you can send some of that cold, leftover pizza my way. It's great for breakfast without the Bud. just give me my Coke. Also that Coke personally tastes better than that road tar mixture some of ya'll drink and call it coffee. Nasty stuff. My first cup of coffe cured me of that habit and I hadn't even started it.
[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-13-2000).]
  13. worked for me. Although I can't figure out the interest in driving land yachts that get FPG. Each to his own. If we all liked the same thing we'd be driving Model Ts
GM Power

Hey, Howard be careful with those remarks, I ressembled that! Try working on a car, especailly under it or judge chasiss with a ball cap on forwards. You'll find out that !@#$%bill^&*()visor gets in the way! I've been wearing my hat that way for years now ,since having been a line mechanic and working on race cars.
[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-12-2000).]
  15. Hey Sal, please make sure that photo ISN'T of him in his underware or less please!!! I don't think we could handle that.
Yes we do need a Howard page though.
Howard, thanks for being on the DF. It' more fun when you are active on here. I know you taking a lot of kidding and you do dish some of it back out. I think with your comments, they help keep the DF a place where we can cut up joking around while we still discuss cars and such. Meeting you in Charlotte so I have a face to put with the name helps make things less formal.

[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-12-2000).]
  16. I think it is how many posts you have made.
  17. Howard, I didn't know you went to Chapel Hill. Although I only met you at Charlotte show. Chapel Hill is only about 20 minutes away for me now.
Oh, don't feel like you're odd for drinking Coca-Cola for breakfast. I do it to and everyone else is missing out on something good.

  18. I knew you'd like that idea Howard. I'll be honest I'm not really impressed with them. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with them. I just grew up on doughnuts made for one of our fellow AACA members, in Rochester, NY. It's on the corner of Culver and Empire Blvd. He has a dought shop called Doughnuts Delight. Now, there are some REAL doughnuts. Hey Peter, what is the smilies code for licking your chops? Yum Yum.

[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-11-2000).]
  19. I also resemble that remark....
In my case there is no status.
I like seeing the posts so I have an idea as to how new someone (other than Howard and his name changing) is to the DF.
I like talking to others about cars and really like to be able to help answer questions they might have. I feel this is the best way of keeping members (notbeing able to get help maskes you wonder about your fellow members interest) and also to help get new members by being the the "place" they can get answers or told were to they can get it.
Now,....if you ask my girlfriend. It's too much time for me to talk for the sake of talking, because I think I know more than everybody else, and like seeing it in the cyberworld.
[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-11-2000).]
  20. A lot of times at the local shows, the judging is not done on the same level as it is a a national show. You will need to find out from your region, how they go about doing the judging.
I would suggest going to a national show and attending the judging school on friday. send in for the car registration packet for the show you will attend. the form is on the BACK of the WHITE PAPER in the plastic sleeve your magazine will becoming in. you then will get all the info on the show, including directions to it, and what time everything takes place. the school will give you good training. you don't have to become a national judge, if you want to. The idea of becoming a national judge might seem scary, but the are a lot of people that will help you if you need it.
Welcome to AACA. You'll find lots of friends here. And if you have questions, just ask. Someone will help you.
  21. Model A Hall, I think Ford should be taking some of the heat. Why are so many more tires failing on Ford products than on the others? Because Ford told thier customers to run lower air pressure in the tires. Why? To counter act the the way the SUVs want to rollover. by having a lower pressure the sidewall of the tire acts like a spring. I wish I could explain it better. anyways, with the lower tire pressure, the tire build up more heat then if it was properly inflated. Example, I have a Dodge dually. I had taken my capmer of the rear and only had time to deflate 3 of the four rear tires. I run higher pressure when I have the 3000lbs camper on. Without the camper and the tires at the higher pressure, only the middle three pieces of tread on on the road. I knew what the pressures in the tire were. At lunch time I drove about 10 miles an then checked the tires while they were hot. gained 7lbs in the lower pressure tires and 1 in the tire that had the higher. that shows what kind of heat buld up you can get. That why i feel Ford should be taking some of this heat. Yes, I do believe Firestone does have a problem with the tires. I just think Ford amplified the problem by using tire pressures to fix the roolover problem in the SUVs. They could have fixed it with supension changes.
  22. I just looked at the site for KKs. I didn't see anything about being able to order on-line, but i only looked quickly. I think Howard will recommend using the addresses listed on the site for locations for all the future shows.
[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 09-11-2000).]
  23. Well ain't that just something. He goes off like that without our permission!! He needs to get a laptop to take with him so he doesn't need to desert his faithful followers in the future. Heck, I'm trying to figure out how to get my computer in the camper, run on the generator (without problems) and hook it up to my cell phone!! Just kidding. It would be nice. I dread getting caught back up on the DF after Hershey.
  24. Another word to mention would be discrimination along with the attorney. It's not like you would be just showing up, uninvited causing trouble. If you were to join, "they" can hold to their club's rules just like every other member. Personally i think someone had a bad experiance and therefore ALL teenagers are a problem. By not letting younger people join. One day some of them are going to find out they don't have a club because almost everyone is DEAD. My local chapter of AACA now has a member that is about 18. (i'm not sure exactly). I joined at the same time a girl whose dad also belonged to AACA, and we were both 16. (my dad was a AACA member also). So we do have young people joining. Look at it this way, they don't let you in, join us and it is their loss not yours. I not think you want to join a bunch of snobbs that treat you like you're a problem.
  25. Glad to hear from you again Howard. I was wondering if you had gotten lost going home from one of the shows and needed a search party sent out for you. Life on here gets a little dull without your comments
Again, glad your back with us.
