@38Buick 80C which book is that?

Looks like a well-preserved low mileage car, and if what we don't see presents as such it's a helluva deal!

Thank you lancemb. I have just joined this forum, so I am still not allowed to send him messages. Could you please help me and send him a message on my behalf? By the way, I see you have 57 Roadmasters. I have two myself here in Norway. Both cars sold new here in 1957. Thanks Knut
Sure, done! You should share some pics of your cars in another thread.

Hello from Norway Mr. “gegrunt”.
Do you still have a pair of these 1/4 panel patches for 54-56 Buick Special/Cntury for sale?
Thanks,
Knut
Be sure to quote or tag @gegrunt so he'll get a notification.

I will definitely be tempted if I find a great deal on a low mileage coupe. This era of GM FWD full size are really great cars.

Looking for a set of intact potmetal spacers that go between headlight buckets and the chrome bezels. Thanks!

It would need a whole quarter panel probably, and a rear bumper. But, worth doing if rust free for the right talent. Even so, I think they'd have to come down to about 5k.

Could make a great classic utilty vehicle. I wonder if that opening in back is wide enough to accept a sheet of plywood?

Even though the interior is not correct, it doesn't look bad at all IMO.

That might be tough to find for that price, but good luck. If you're just touring and cruising, consider a GS 350. You'll get a much nicer car for the money, and still great to drive.

Hello, no I didn't know this site and I just looked.
The most similar model is this one, but as you say you have to install it with a bolt.https://www.auveco.com/general-motors/moulding-fasteners-10-24-x-3-4-bolt-5-16-width-12962
I looked online but couldn't find it.
I also need this clip, for the large lower body strips, but I couldn't find it.Try this place. They have a bunch of oddball clips (many not mentioned on website), and are super helpful. Send them pictures with measurements and they will get back to you.

Hello everyone this is my 64 buick lesabre. It had been sitting in my bosses cow field since 1998. I offered him $150. And he said yes! This will be my first restoration. It's going to be a cruiser however it does have the high compression 300 engine in it. Believe it or not the engine was not locked up but had no spark. I changed the coil and points and squrted a tiny amount of starting fluid in the carb and cranked it over and it briefly started! It has factory air conditioning. Everything is Original on this buick. The trunk latch is stuck closed any advice on how to get that open will be appreciated.i have the title also.more pics to follow. I'm having trouble locating an upper radiator mount for the car..lots of them for cars w/o air conditioning but none with ac.
Do you have the key to the trunk but it just won't turn? If so try attaching a straw to the nozzle of a can of PB Blaster and squirting it into the keyhole and letting it sit awhile.

It looks like you could use a universal type small trim clip, but they usually have a stud that accepts a nut instead. However, this style is probably available as well. Have you tried Auveco?

So good and bad news. I did jumper power to the dash light terminal as John suggested and all my lights turned on so the ground is good. I was concerned that the paint on the gauge housings was causing the lights not to ground, but this test appears to validate I have good ground. The bad news is that it must be a connection in the rheostat to just the dash light terminal. It's confusing since the map light works and that is totally controlled by turning the rheostat to switch it on and then off.
Sorry EmTee, I don't have an ohm meter so couldn't do the test you suggested. Since I now know it's the rheostat and although the book indicates it can't be repaired, I'll take it apart and let you know what I discover. Now, I'll need a replacement switch so Fr Buick, I'll contact you. Thanks all. I'll be doing a couple of other posts - one on wind shield wipers and I'm publishing an approach I used to replace both my defroster motor and seat heater motor with new current motors used today. I did have to make a few modifications on the seat heater motor, but the defroster motor was pretty clean and quick.
As usual, thanks for all the help - this was a pain!
Do as @JohnD1956 suggested (he beat me to it). If you're like me and want dash lights on full bright anyway, it's easiest fix. I have done this many times by soldering a wire between the + terminal and the tang on the back of the other side of the rheostat.

Too bad no info on sellers is given... kind of a worthless teaser article as far as actually getting the cars into someone else's hands!
