  2. You can't see much of the car, but it sure looks like a BUICK steering wheel to me!! And,.....Denise Richards doesn't look bad either!!
  3. Last chance before it goes to the scrap yard. Photo attached. I will haul it anywhere up to 2 hours from Eau Claire Wisconsin to help anyone out. John JSimonson@TDS.net
  4. Maybe this will help................ Although Buick had previously only won two NASCAR races (both in 1955), 1981 began a period of complete dominance. Twelve models were eligible for 1981, but aerodynamics and rules favored the Regal. Just about everyone was driving the newly designed Buick -Richard and Kyle Petty, Harry Gant, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Terry Labonte, Tim Richmond and many others. The following lists some of the major accomplishments of the 1981 Buick Regal. 1981 GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Darrell Waltrip won the driver's championship with 12 of 32 wins is his #11 Mountain Dew Buick Regal (above). Bobby Allison took second in his #28 Hardee's Buick (below). 1981 MANUFACTURER'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Buick Regals won 22 of 32 races. 1981 DAYTONA 500 -Won by Richard Petty's #43 STP Buick. 15 of 42 cars were Buick Regals. Boddy Allison's 1981 #28 Hardee's Regal. (Picture contributed by Cory Walker.) The Regal contiued it's dominace through 1982. Even more drivers found their way into Buicks, including newcomers Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace. Kentucky Bussinessman J.D. Stacy sponsered 5 Buick Regals (and a Pontiac Lemans and a Thunderbird) in the Daytona 500. The Buick was even more succesful in 1982: 1982 GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Again, Darrell Waltrip won the driver's championship with 12 wins is his #11 Mountain Dew Buick Regal (top). Bobby Allison again took second in his #88 Gatorade Buick. 1982 MANUFACTURER'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Buick Regals won 25 of 30 races. 1982 DAYTONA 500 -Won by Bobby Allison in the #88 Gatorade Buick and seven of the top eight finishers drove Regals. 25 of 42 cars were Buick Regals. Ron Bouchard's #47 J.D.Stacy Buick Regal, 6th place 1982 Daytona 500 The racing giants of Chevrolet and Ford were completely embarrassed. For 1983, both countered with new designs. Chevy reshaped the Monte Carlo's nose (SS) and Ford completely changed the Thunderbird. New "Aero" wars similar to those of the early seventies had begun. The Regals had literally "reshaped" racing world. Chevrolet won the Manufacturer's Champion, but... 1983 GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - This time Bobby Allison beat Waltrip and won the driver's championship by 47 points in is his #22 Miller Light Buick Regal. (Waltrip had switched to the Monte SS.) In 1984 Buick recorded two wins, both by Bobby Allison. There were no wins in 1985. By 1986, the Regal was out and Buick drivers were switching to the new FWD LeSabre body. (Buick released a limited production LeSabre Grand National in 1986). 6. Norb, Here is some more information about Buicks in NASCAR. I think you'll find it interesting. Let's try to get as many photos of racing Buicks we can find. 9. I am planning on taking my 65 GS to the Rochester meet, I have never been to a National meet and I would like to have it judged. Can you give me insight into what class I need to register in, what I have to do to the car, do I need to be by the car when judging, and what day the judging is....etc. I want to take in the banquet as well, I assume they hand out the trophies there? I have been to the website and seen the registration form. The car is a restored 65 Skylark Gran Sport. Thanks for your help. John Wisconsin

  11. My brother and I are selling some parts off his 64 Skylark. We have a deck lid with just surface rust and a pair of somewhat rusty front fenders. I don't have the car near me to take some photos, but I can try to get some for you within a day. If anyone is interested, let me know. $75.00 on the deck lid and make an offer on the front fenders. 17. Hello, I am looking for a part for my Dads 50 Commander. I don't know what to call it other than a "pull" for the headlights. It is the chrome piece (or white metal) that you pull to turn on the headlights. I was about 12 when I broke my Dads and I haven't been able to find one. Now that I found this site, I hope someone can help me. I really feel bad about breaking it and would like to find another. If you can help, email me at JSimonson@TDS.net Thanks, John H-715-743-2253
  18. Sounds good Terry, I got the GS out and brought it to work this morning. Beautiful day for it. We get a lot of looks at it as it is parked out front of the Buick dealership I work for. I work til noon today (Sat) then I will do some polishing on it whe I get home. John
  19. Hi Terry, Neillsville is 25 miles Northeast of Black River Falls which is about 35-40 miles north of Kendall. Are you in Monroe county? I am in southern Clark county. Did you want to come up and see the GS, or do you think a chapter of the BCA would work in our area? Thanks for your time, John
  20. Randy,.... Our TDS system is located in Western Wisconsin, specifically one hour SE of Eau Claire. It must be a statewide thing, huh? Are you looking to sell your Reatta or trade? Sure is a nice one. I have been thinking about starting a BCA chapter in this neck of the state, do you think it would go over? Thanks for your time, John
  21. I can provide photos if need be. Thanks, John
  22. Anyone have a 55-56 Buick Century 2door hdtp, or Reatta Convert they would like to trade for a 65 Skylark GS? Thinking about maybe selling or trading for one, or possibly a 68-69 Skylark or GS? Just wondering? JSimonson@TDS.net or ruddracing28@hotmail.com Thanks, John
  23. I was LUCKY enough to find a set of rear quarters that were beautifully rust free at a bone yard in the western states 2 weeks ago. The rest of the car was gone, all that was left was the rear quarters and the deck lid! How lucky is that! I quickly snappped them up! They are going on the car we are restoring. Good luck with your quest. John
  24. Still looking for rear quarter panels or patch panels, also good steering wheel, slight cracking is ok. Your help would be appreciated. See above for email addresses. Thanks, John
