  1. Looks like a traditional "jalopy" style hot rod, something that could've been assembled back in the day. You'll find out soon enough however that most that frequent this site, and the AACA in general is geared toward factory stock originals and restorations. There are a bunch of great folks here and some that dabble in the hot rod world too, but the vast majority here are not into anything but factory original cars.

If you are familiar with "The Hamb", that site is all about hot rods and you will find a lot of helpful folks there too.

      -Best of luck to you!

  2.   It has probably been 12-15 years since I was at the spring Charlotte swap meet. I have heard there have been many changes with the swap meet, car corral, and number of vendors. I have heard that the car show is still really good but I'm more interested in the swap meet. I would also like to hear others thoughts that have attended recently.

  3. I have my two spaces paid for. I plan to bring an assortment of model T and A Ford parts along with a smattering of early flathead V8 stuff. Maybe a few items from other pre-war makes like some 20's Dodge pieces.

-Model T windshields, wheels, running boards, running board tool boxes, grille shell, front axle and steering parts, steering wheels, coil boxes, carburetors, etc...

-Model A hood, wheels, bumpers, steering columns, steering wheels, grille shells (really, really nice 1930!), headlights and headlight bars, AA bellhousing, etc....

-Early V8 heads (NOS), distributors, intakes, spare tire cover, '32 headlights/headlight bar, hubcaps, etc.

@Larry Schramm Friday is typically better than Saturday. It is a relatively small meet, with 70-80 vendor spaces I think but some good stuff always shows up. I always find some great deals! Several model A and T cars and trucks always show up for sale and even some other brass-era offerings at times. I only live an hour away so I can't make a hotel recommendation.

  4.   Nothing new here. Cash directly handed to you by the buyer is the safest thing followed only by a direct bank to bank wire transfer followed by a certified check that has had time to clear the buyers bank before the car is picked up.

If the purchase isn't made by one of the above methods DON"T DO IT!!!

  5. Unfortunately I know nearly nothing about these early radios. It was not stored in the best environment. I found it on a shelf in a dirt floor garage. I'll post some pics later, it's a neat looking unit.

  6. Who among you guys knows about early Philco radios? I have an NOS Philco UN6-500 remote style radio from 1948-1949 era still in it's original box. I was thinking it might be a cool addition to my '51 Ford F1. Almost hate to take it out of the box though.

      Here is the model.

  7.   I had hoped that I would make it to the National Convention this year. At only two hours from my house it will certainly never be closer. As happens sometimes, other circumstances started getting in the way and finally, my 90 year old Mother was taken to the hospital last night so I won't even get there for the day today.

I, and others I'm sure would love to hear about your experiences at the national convention and some photos would be extra nice, so if those of you in attendance would take the time to share, it would be appreciated.

Moderators, feel free to move this post elsewhere if appropriate.

This right here is what is the heart of this hobby - I have no idea if your post is what allowed the other member to find this car, but this is what happens time and again that we help each other out.  And the fact that you've brought it full circle by offering to pick it up is icing on the cake!

The fact is I really enjoy helping others, whether it be providing a part that someone really needs or simply lending a hand. Yes, I do profit some from the parts I buy and sell but at the end of the day it's not about the money, it's about helping one another out. I have certainly benefitted plenty from my fellow forum members.

I'm fortunate I don't have that hurdle in my life.  No wife to have to explain things to when I bring something like that home.

The only thing my Wife would complain about me dragging home would be another woman. She seems to be fine with anything else. I'm a lucky guy.

  10. The car was indeed purchased by a forum member that I shall not identify. He contacted me since he found out I am local and asked if I might be available to help move/load the car which I told him I would be glad to help in any way possible. I think the final price surprised everyone including the buyer but he commented to me that "this car will make it possible to make my car complete". I'm happy that a nice guy won the auction and the parts will enable another car to live on.

Thank You! I could def. be there in time for dinner, and thanks so much for the invite😄 Unfortunately, my wife is feeling a bit under the weather and I doubt I would earn any brownie points if I up and left for a few hours! She probably would not let me take my planned trip to the convention on Saturday. I do not drink but I will toast a coke to you from the Smokehouse!

How far are you from Winchester? My brother went to school there. Just about 3 hrs from my doorstep.

1 hour or so south of Winchester straight down I-81. Maybe next time! Plan to bring the T/A. After a couple Texas Teas I think a couple smoky burnouts in the street might be in order. I'll have my Wife bring bail money. I may be nearly 61 but mentally I'm still a juvenile! 🤪

  12.   Bidding at $8,600.00 with 24 hours to go. It has surpassed my guess of final sale price. Matt brings up an excellent point above that altogether, this car holds $15-$20k in parts alone. Is there a market for them? Apparently so.

I'm a parts seller and the car is close to home but I believe I'll let somebody else deal with this one. My days of parting out cars are pretty much behind me.
