  1. I got the silver ones from Mitch. Based on the color of the car I decided to go with the silvers I/o the black.
  2. Yeah, tried the manual assistance, nada. Guess I'll take the skin off and pull the motor and see what gives.
  3. My '65 has power vent windows. The passengers side works fine, but the drivers side is hit or miss. Some days ill try it and it works no problem, and when it works it works perfectly, just like the pass aside. Then, another day I'll hit the switch and it makes all the right noises but does nothing. Ive seen a lot of discussion about gears, but it seems that would be a works or doesn't work situation.....
  4. Yeah, it sat from 1975 to 2018. That's a long time. After they turned the drums they were out of spec, but they were round. I mounted them and drove down the street, no vibration, so that was it.
  5. That must have been a heck of an impact, these things are heavy steel! Hate to see the other guy!
  6. Yeah, I remember! Well, I restored my later wheels too, they look pretty good, hopefully I can recoup some $$. The situation on my '65 with the later wheels is that I have spacers on the back (not super thick, if I use a std lug nut the stud still comes to the top of the nut). On the front they fit, but they are so close to the drums there's not even enough space to put wheel weights on. I guess you could use the stick on ones inside the rim, but I had a place put those on my GTO and they flew off... My vibration issue was the drums. I had them turned, but by the time the warp was out they were past the limit. When I picked up these 853's I also got 2 drums that are in spec as well.
  7. When I bought my '65 I knew nothing about Rivieras except I always wanted a '65. It came with hubcaps, and I wanted ralleys and thought all the 15x5 were the same, and just bought some '71 and up versions. You all know the issues, I learned quickly. Fast forward, found a set of 853's with decent chrome this week and have begun refurbishing them. I'm going with the earlier silver color this time, first one finished. One interesting thing, all are stamped 853, but one of them has the 2" center hole, not 2 1/8".....
  8. I guess 63 and 65 are different in that aspect? On my 65 there are set screws on the chrome rings, you replace the bulbs from the front while sitting in comfort in the front seat. Clock is twist and pull....
  9. I converted all dash and interior lights to Superbright LED'S awhile back, looks great. Also switched out parking and tail lights. If you do this, you will need to go with the special LED type flasher, as LED's do not pull enough current for the standard type flasher to work properly.
  10. Sent you a message and a picture Dennis.
  11. There is felt in mine. Already bolted up the left side, will check the right when I take it apart....
  12. It amazes me that they used undersized bearings "that may cause clatter noise during cold starting" and note "run the oil 1 quart low to prevent foaming". Did they warranty the Stage 2 dealer option?
  13. I think ill try that. I did it with my seat motor. Easy access, why not?
  14. Yes, when you told me it had a good diagnostic section for cruise I looked it up. Otherwise I never would have thunk it. Thanks!
  15. Yes, cleaned it awhile ago, it was dust as you said. Replaced it with some small perforated foam. So I got the air line replaced today. I really did not expect the cruise to work, but I think it does. In the shop manual it says to test it by starting the car and idling in park. Then, when you depress the switch, the engine should race. Lo and behold, it did. Car is in "not able to drive" mode again, but looking forward to trying it while driving.
  16. Took my drivers door skin off today, was amazed how clean it was inside. Now that I have access to all the window channels and power vent windows, what is the best lubricant to use? The window does labor a bit. The passenger side rattles, so I'm thinking the channel felt is probably gone, will find out.
  17. I bought 50' of 7/64 hose on Amazon for $25 bucks and was amazed at the quality. Didn't even use 25'. Then I got some modelers paint and dabbed every 6 inches the correct color.
  18. Wow, you're really making fast progress, looks great!
  19. I know one thing, I need to change the vacuum hose that goes into the car. Split open when I put it on....
  20. Kongaman is correct, do you want want to win a concourse or just use the car infrequently? I am the latter, I bought these 4 Hankook Optimo H724's 225x75x15 at Wal-Mart. They were very well rated on other sites. 4 tires, mounting and balancing for $320.
  21. Done. Drilled the hole to 5/16". Then I tapped the shaft and put a nut on each side of the accelerator lever. All hooked up well. Funny part is, I don't even know if the cruise control works......it does hold vacuum.....
