Im sure its been brought up before, but have any of you upgraded to led taillights and marker lights.? If so, are they just plug and play or do we need some type of relay ?

Ok, I finally got brake lights working proper. I cleaned the spade fittings with a wire brush and applied dielectric grease... Seems that 60 year old wiring gets an oxidation film on every joint possible when it hasnt been run for years. Im finding switches work better, lights are brighter too when sockets and bulb ends are polished... Still having issues with turn signals though.... Think I have a bad flasher...... Getting very close to being able to go for ice cream, as this was the goal when I started this project oh so long ago..... John

Dont beat yourself up.... We all over react sometimes... Knowledge comes from experience.. and we all can learn from each others experiences, good or bad.. At least thats why I read the posts.... Glad to hear its nothing serious.... Get 2 belts, one for a spare.... I know I will be carrying a spare.... John

While checking wires and function of each, realized I need to glue weather strip on trunk lid... Problem is, forget which way it goes on trunk.. need photo of someones trunk lid showing placement. See photo attached.... Not sure if im on the right edge... Its been 6 years since I removed it, and now that its painted, I dont remember where it goes... Thanks.. John

Yes. I killed a perfectly good battery also with hf junk "floating" charger. Water level appears fine, but shorted inside... Glad you caught it under warranty.

Did you have the intake/exhaust manifolds apart ?..... If you did, you need to keep those 4 bolts (2 long,2 short) loose until stud nuts on block are tight... They can cause a slight misalignment on the two, therefore not allowing the intake/exhaust gasket to seal proper on the block. Ask me how I know..!! John

Fuel guage working proper now.. did not have good ground until inst. cluster bolt holes got cleaned out.. when I painted dash, threads got painted too... Oil pressure working. 30 psi on block guage.. Off a little on dash guage, but now I know where 'normal' should be... Checked temp guage on stove top with meat probe in hot water.... 175 was at center mark... Seems accurate...

I will run a ground wire direct to battery... ThinkIng about this, I should know better.. most electrical issues are ground related. Since the car was separated from frame, epoxy undercoated, frame painted, new rubber body mounts, there are multiple points of failure here.. Lots of time to think about this while driving truck.(my day job)... Thanks to all responses so far... I will post results tonight.... By the way, Im writing rhis as truck is being unloaded !!! .... Tank initially has 2 gallons in it. Reads 1/8 full... Ok, then key off.. reads full... ?? Add 5 gallons, key on, reads about 1/3. .. key off, goes to full... Key back on, reads 1/3..... Not even drinkin today !!! Just doesnt figure in my brain... No other car or truck I ever had, did this..... Guess I do need a beer, then move on..... John

Just thought it should go to empty when key off.... Not full..... Oh well, as long as it registers proper while running, I guess no worries... Thanks for your reply Jack M

Whats going on here ?.... 53 pontiac fuel guage reads full when key off. Start engine, reads proper... Added fuel... Restarted engine and guage shows additional fuel... Stop engine, guage goes to full.. Key on registers ok.... History... Tank removed and cleaned. New sending unit installed. Tank has not been completely full for some time as restoration continues, so not much sloshing of gas in tank... Probably 2 years... Any ideas on this ? Thanks in advance, John

Another weekend over already... Had some progress though... Got new firewall pad installed.... Most all holes lined up... Vent holes need enlarged slightly for deflectors to fit. Not a big deal.... Defrost/heater air box installed.. Wiring harness is in, just not completely operating yet.... tracing all wires with test light.... (no fancy tools here. !!) Found 3 breaks so far... taillights/breaklights work.. Fresh air vent cables in... The announcement of the fall Gettysburg event is great to hear... Also, only 20 miles away... Might not be complete, but I sure am trying to be roadworthy by then... John
