  1. I've got the 33 Chevy all back together. Took it out for a quick drive and it all works perfect. I dropped the gas tank and fixed the fuel gauge sending unit and also installed a fuel filter and a six volt electric fuel pump at the tank. The float on the sending unit had fallen off inside the tank. I put that back together, fabricated a bracket for the electric fuel pump and installed an inline filter between the gas tank and the electric pump. I pumped 5 gallons at a time into the tank and check the gauge after each one and it looks as though the gauge is accurate. The car is almost entirely stock. It always had a vapor lock problem, so I'm hoping the next time it vapor locks on a hot day I can just hit the accessory switch for the electric fuel pump for a few seconds and that will take care of it.

  3. Does anyone know what a modern equivalent of the AC C86 spark plug would be? I ordered new plugs for my 33 Chevy Master from the Filling Station and they sent me AC Delco R45 plugs. They are completely the wrong size plugs. Here is a picture of one of the plugs from my engine next to the Filling Station plug. Thanks, Dennis
  4. Here is an update on the Redline Full Synthetic MT-90 gear oil in my 1933 Master. I changed the gear oil in my transmission and free wheeling unit today. Took the car out for a drive before it started raining. The temperature was in the low 40's. Starting out the transmission did shift easier than the 600W oil. I drove the car for about 25 minutes and when it was fully warmed up it was shifting about the same as with the "Filling Station" 600W gear oil that was in the transmission prior to this. So I'm thinking I will leave this 75W90 synthetic oil in it until warmer weather and then change it to the Sta-Lube 140W.

  6. Thanks everyone. I appreciate your response's to my rough shifting problem. I know about shifting big trucks as I drove commercially for a while. Last year the car shifted just fine. Recently I've had some trouble getting it into second and third smoothly. It was just a thought and I figured I would run the idea through you guys because your collective knowledge about old cars is way more than I've ever known about them. I was thinking with this colder weather that maybe the problem was the thick gear oil. I guess I will drain it and refill it with Sta-Lube GL-4 140W.
  7. I am having some trouble shifting my 1933 Chevrolet Master Coupe. I am wondering if using Red Line Full Synthetic Gear Oil in the transmission would help. I have a case of it that I have no use for. It is a 75W-90 oil. Has anyone ever tried synthetic in their cars? I have attached the specifications information of this gear oil to this posting.
  8. Small World. No I was never in the Navy. But I was in the Marines for 20 years and was deployed aboard the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) with a Marine F/A-18 squadron (VMFA-314) on the Med Cruise in 1986. Thanks for replying to my message.
  9. Does anyone have any pictures of a jack that came with the 1933 Chevrolet Master? Or even better, does anyone have one of those jacks for sale? I bought an old screw jack from Ebay but it is too tall to fit under the car if the car has a flat tire. I really would like the jack to be correct not only because the car is stock, but to be functional in case of flat also. Thanks, Dennis Jones

  13. This has been weighing on my mind for about a year now. My car is a 33 Chevy Master Coupe. Last year I removed the transmission to replace the throwout bearing and pilot bearing. When I removed the transmission I thought it was strange that I had to pry it away from the bell housing. Upon reinstalling the transmission I found I had to unbolt the engine mounts from the sides of the block and lift the back of the engine up in order to install the transmission main shaft into the pilot bearing because the transmission would not lift high enough for the back mount to clear the frame crossmember. It was very hard to install the bolts in the rear transmission mounts and reinstall the engine mounts bolts. It is like the frame crossmember for the rear transmission mount is too high. When I look in the engine compartment at the starter motor the starter actuation lever is almost touching the floorboard. It seems to me it should have more clearance. Has anyone else run into trouble with the frame crossmember (rear transmission mount) possibly being too high?

  15. Marv - - I am looking for preferably a 259S Carter W-1, but I understand that I can use a 269S Carter W-1. So depending on the price and condition as long as it is one of those two I will certainly look into it. Thanks for responding Marv. Dennis Jones

  18. It has taken a while because I've been a little busy with other stuff. But here are some pictures of my mostly finished 1933 Chevy Air Cleaner that I purchased through the internet (thanks to the AACA Forum website and Dave Henderson). I still need to attach the decal that I got from The Filling Station. But I will wait a few days before putting it on to let the paint cure for a while. I used heat resistant enamel primer and paint. And Chore Boy copper pads. My thanks to everyone who gave the advise on this project. I am totally satisfied with how it turned out.
