  1. It was an awesome feeling. Been long time coming.
  2. I plan for big things. Just hoping I am able to make it happen (God willing of course).
  3. Moved the Buick to it's permanent home. Of course, it wouldn't be possible without my kids!Still have enough room for the other Buick.I have to get the family van ready for inspection, but as soon as I am done with that, the other Buick will be in here too.
  4. Good to hear from you @EmTee. I already took care of this. 3 at the top and 3 at the bottom.
  5. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question Mr Pete. Any chance any of those 55's has the rear speaker switch with the same type of pointer knob?
  6. How are you Mr Pete? Are any of the 54/55 Buicks equipped with A/C? Still trying to get a hold of one or more of those pointer knobs. Thank you.
  7. Phase 1 of the work bench is done. This is my stationary work bench. I still need to put my vice onto it.I will also add a fold-down portion on the end to extend my work space if needed. It will also allow for more floor space when I need that more. On the other side of the garage, I will build another work bench with a fold-up portion. I want this work bench to be multifaceted. The idea is when needed and both folding portions are in place on both work benches, I will have work bench space along the entire length of the backside of the garage. The other work bench will be a roller that can also fold down entirely on the wall. In the meantime, I need to build a set of small shelves to hold both bumpers from my Buick. That way, I can finally move both Buicks in the shop.
  8. Build the fence for the table saw today. @JFranklin, also made a pair of these to keep my fingers away from the blade.Out of all of the tools I have ever operated, the table saw is what I fear most. Got to respect it. I cut my first piece with no issue. Went ahead and cut a few more pieces for the bottom portion of my work bench. The cuts look good. Now, to finish this work bench this weekend!
  9. Over the weekend, I cleaned and organized the new garage as best I could. I can't really work in here like I want to until I have a work bench. So, that's what I started to work on. Removed the old work bench from the other garage. Then, started putting together the structural part of the new work bench. I don't have a table saw and I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to buy one. So, I made one with a regular circular saw and scrap wood! All I need to do now is make a decent fence for it and I can finish one of my work benches.
  10. Our house service is maxed out. Either way, I think we would have went with the option of the garage having it's own service anyway.
  11. Chavis workshop is finally open for business! Dominion Power finally showed up. Bout damn time.Next order of business is to organize this mess, remove my old work bench from the other garage and then build another for this one.
  12. The new chapter has begun. It took us almost 8 years to get a garage, but here we are. I started moving my stuff into the new garage.I had to just throw stuff wherever. I need to organize and then I can start the work on the Buick back up. Can't wait!
  13. Not much has happened over the last week and a half. Final trimout of the electrical work was completed. Still waiting on the power company to run their line to the meter. Also, started moving things into the new garage...which means finally saying goodbye to the good old carport. It served it's purpose and I am glad that I had it, but I am not sad to see it go.
  14. Garage door installed today. Now, the only thing left is electrical. The power company still needs to run their cable and then final trimout will be done.
  15. Here's the recess that I was talking about @MrEarl.
  16. Thank you Mr Lamar! I do plan on insulating, drywalling the walls and ceiling at some point (just not right now). I will take you up on your suggestion to look up the garage journal forum. I would have liked to have an eave on the front gable side, but that would mean more money. However, the company did provide a recess in the concrete slab along the entire length if the front opening where the garage door rests at. This will keep the rain water from seeping into the floor area. I will post a photo to show what I am talking about. I do have a couple ideas for Buick signs and ornaments. The company put this up as a storage area for the blueprints. Both cars will be stored into the garage when complete. The first order of business will be to break down the whole parts car so that I can get it out (what I won't need). I will definitely take heed to this suggestion, Mr Willie. Thank you.
  17. Roofing done...just in time for potential rain this weekend with whatever is left from Hurricane Laura.
  18. More progress today and I was able to walk around in the attic!
  19. There is a direct path from the road to this garage. There is a slight interference with a tree, but I can steer around it with no issue. This tree will be removed soon anyway.
  20. Trusses installed and much of the exterior done.Showing the attic space here.
  21. I stand in the middle of the garage thinking the same thing!
