  1. This photo and article (though I didn't read it, just looked at the pictures, ha) are indicative of why 50s-60s GM styling is so aesthetically attractive. While I admit maybe only half the photos fit the bill in my book, I could make a laundry list of cars that they should have featured. Compare this drawing GM used: to this photo from the article: I think they did a pretty good job. And more on topic... the gold first gen rivi KILLS me. My first 65 was the same color and its perfect for the car. The classiness that the car and setting oozes is what makes me crazy over Rivieras in the first place. In fact this photo is one of the many times I think the 63-4 rivals the 65.
  2. I look at a lot of photos of first gen Rivieras and a lot of those have people driving in the cars. I noticed they look far up in the car and realized how limited the space is inside the cabin, even with the power seat. My guess is GM wanted to be sure you allowed passengers a reasonable amount of space. I for one, plan on getting my seats to move back farther in the future. Thanks for all the information everyone.
  3. I appreciate the photos here! I've scanned as many "lets see lowered rivieras" themed threads as possible and it's oftentimes hard to tell what the owner did, who they ordered from, or how many inches they went lower. And I don't know that I've ever seen anyone who did only the 1 inch. At this point I would like to do a 1 or 2 inch drop all the way around. My current (original) springs have sagged quite a bit in the front, I'm guessing as much as 1 inch. The rear have some spacers added beneath the springs so the car sits high in the back but I'm not sure how much sagging has occurred back there. My worry is that 1 inch all the way around or even 2 inch all the way around would give me a hot-rod rake. And the rear are supposed to be pigtail style so I would not be able to cut in order to even things out. I noticed in this ad, and maybe one or two other places online, that folks do lower in the rear and end up with a perfectly level car. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5706572782.html Can anyone offer any further insight?
  4. I think the 65 gets a certain type of attention that's positive and inquisitive. There's also the people who know the car: like the ones who walked up today at cars n coffee with comments like "nice! it has the deluxe interior" or "I remember _____ who got one brand new" (the blank space invariably filled by the wealthy folk on the block). It's also interesting though that so many people are stricken by it yet dont know at all what it is. I assume they're trying to decide if it's a muscle car or a luxury car or a lowrider, or who knows. It's nice telling them its a Buick.
  5. yes that's the same car. I'm relatively local so I didn't push the issue when he could not send close photos of the 'blistering' in the paint. Since it all turned out okay (blistering did not = rust) I consider myself lucky to have purchased it at a good price.
  6. Thanks! the tires are GT Champiro 75 (made in china) 215/75/r15 with a 1.25 inch whitewall. The blue is really growing on me especially as i normally like lighter colors - your white+vinyl for example shows the lines of the body very nicely.
  7. I completely understand you on not being able to resist snapping pics! I tried convincing myself to only take some after I get the bumper hanging correctly and getting the stance right (too tall in the rear) but the light felt right yesterday in the evening.. mine was originally regal black on black so the paint if off from what your father would have had I'm sure-much more metal flake than what wouldve come out of the factory in 65.
  8. i'm new here and this car is new to me. it's my second 65 but I'll keep this one.
  9. cool car!!! what tires are those? they look proper.
