  1. Hi all, Things are still progress with the 64 Build. Weather and Job are getting in the way on getting things buttoned up. In the process of checking all the power window motors. All the connectors are brittle and are breaking apart. Anyone have a good source for replacements? I do have two complete wire harness that I can splice into but would rather not cut and solder wires together. There are other places where the connectors broke apart when I deconstructed the car.
  2. quick update to let everyone know that I am still around and have not abandoned the project. New engine has been procured and is waiting to drop in. Figure that if I have a new engine I probably should go through the transmission. Weather has not been in my favor lately. Snow storms and cold weather has impeded progress on the body work. Work has also been a pain. Might have to make a change in that department. Still have not decided on the paint color. It is a toss-up between a deep burgundy (not period correct) or a white pearl. Interior will be black and silver. New shop, WITH HEAT!!!!, is scheduled to be built in the next two months. No more excuses that it is too cold to do any work. Just have to figure out the layout. Right now it is 40 x60. Need enough room for a few cars/trucks to be worked on at the same time and a lift. No more swapping transmissions on my back! Will have more pics coming once the snow stops
  3. was not planning to pull them out but can if needed.. let me know.
  4. I was thinking along the lines of a Candy Brandy Wine. Ford has a color that is close, just not as dark.
  5. mine are back in. I do have a parts care that I can pull off and measure for you. show a pic of what you are looking for. might be a day or two till I can get to it. snowing today. :-(
  6. Been a little busy with work and weather has been a bit cold (no heat in the shop). I found an rebuilt engine and made a quick trip up to Kansas to pick it up just after Xmas. Engine is currently red. when researching on this site I found a thread on engine color and wanted to use a green that I believe was not a stock Buick color, however I am unable to find the thread again. have some floors to repair before I put the new body mounts in and drop the engine in. also, been trying to decide if I paint the car the original white or change to a dark maroon. I know it is my call but what do you all think? stock or custom color? car will have the black interior.
  7. Thanks for the update CTX. I bought a parts car few months back and have a spare frame. was going to look into contacting some of the suspension shops in town to see if we could figure out a new front end setup. However work has been crazy busy and the weather a little cold keep us posted on your progress
  8. MrEarl, I have a decent passenger side front fender and rear quarter on a parts car I picked up. Not going to be needed them. I am in eastern Colorado. Will take pics and shoot them your way if it helps.
  9. thanks for the link chris. i have to replace floors in the Riv i am working on. been putting it off for months. going to give it a shot over the weekend. Have to cut the rear floor out of the parts car and move it over to the "good one" :-)
  10. 64Rivvy, I might be able to help you out with your seat problem. I have another complete interior for a 64. One of the rear seats has some rusted parts on the frame... but enough good metal to be fixed. ( I think ) I will try and shoot some pics this week before I go on a hunting trip next week.
  11. thanks ED. let me know when you come up with a price. I think the block I got with the parts car is toast too. see pics on my engine thread. I thought I might be able to sleeve it.. but I am not sure how I can even get the crank out the way it is all bound up. ya know.... this never happens on Gas Monkey or Counts Kustom ... (stupid cars... ) nice find on the boat.
  12. ED.... how much for the 425??? :-)
  13. Well here are the pics after pulling the engine. Alls was going as expected.. rust in the intake ports. pulled the valley cover off and found some chunks of metal.. where could they have come from????? anyone see a piston laying around here....... think a sleeve in the cylinder will work???
  14. Bleach, I am too. I outside cleaned up pretty good. going to pull the valve covers off tomorrow if I can get out of work at a reasonable hour. chasander. thanks for the heads up. I found a block but for $300 less I opted for the parts car. I need the front bumpers and the side lights so figure I am doing okay so far. all the glass is good except the front.. front has a crack. my seat frames were rusted through and these are in better condition.. and so far it appears the floor under the rear seats are not Swiss cheese, and I need to replace those on my builder. radiator still has anti freeze in it... so who knows.. I might get lucky. (positive attitude)
  15. spent the day pulling stuff out of the trunk and an hour at the car wash. got all the gunk out of the engine compartment. it cleaned up nice. Pulled out about 100 lbs of dirt, and spare parts from the trunk. most was air conditioning components.. pretty sure they are all shot. rest was bright work and 3 antenna's. bag full of script badges and hood trim. the car still has all its trim on as well. looks to be another whole cars bright work. think I might be able to use the rear floor as patches for mine. Under the front seats are all rusted and might have to cut the cross bracing to get the seats out. still have to pull all the dirt and gunk from the interior. some pics of what I found:
  16. It appears that it was.. Didn't have time to dig into it when I got home. Daughter fell and broke her arm. Getting ready to start knocking off the big chunks of dirt before moving vehicles around to yank the motor.
  17. Yahooo... ( I think ) brought home a donor car today. lots of extra trim parts and an engine that was running before the Colorado Floods two years ago. have to knock all the stink off, and out, of it. I hope the block is okay.
  18. thanks mark, this is the weekend project.
  19. thanks ED, doing some searching for testing the window motors.. not really finding to much. search function keeps crashing. will have to pull the manuals out and see if they have a step by step process outlined. Talked to a guy at the GoodGuy's car show yesterday that has a parts car he is done with. he said I just took some sheet metal from the floor boards and off one quarter. Was hoping that the window parts are in better condition then what I have. he said that he had all the trim for both cars..and better yet... a motor. :-) have to wait till next weekend to go look.
  20. Thanks for the pick. doesn't sound to bad to pull out. thought this might be why the windows were struggling a little going up and down. still need to test the window motors to see if they need rebuilt. not sure how difficult they would be to rebuild. buddy of mine is an electrician and he was going to take a look. One of the rear motors seems bound have those all out. went to the GoodGuy's car show yesterday and found 1 Riv on display. everything was shaved. he has a parts car that is pretty much complete. he said he cut into one of the quarters but everything else is there. Hopefully the motor is not trashed and can be rebuilt. need to search the site to see how to tell a 401 from a 425.
  21. Hood, trunk lid, and door skins are now in primmer. have a few whisky dents to take care of but at least I have everything striped and all the rust treated. trying to get the rest of the body in epoxy primer this weekend.
  22. Pulled the door skins off to strip and primer and look what I found. glass run channel and guide assembly arm are broke on both the driver and passenger side. is this going to need to be replaced as a whole unit with the Lower Sash Channel Cam?
  23. Pulled the door skins off to strip and primer and look what I found. glass run channel and guide assembly arm are broke on both the driver and passenger side. is this going to need to be replaced as a whole unit with the Lower Sash Channel Cam?
  24. found the tech advisor section.... not sure how I could have missed it...
  25. I found that video too. that is what gave me the idea of using the big water tank I have for the horses. I also found an article comparing different methods of rust removal, molasses came in last. However with enough time it seems it would do the trick hard to tell how bad the underside of the trunk and hood are. Can't really see what is going on behind the framing. If I don't do something now it will become a problem later for me or someone else. also, I looked in the Riviera volume 31 july/aug edition and did not see anything on tech advisors. will look again today as I read over stuff when I am in a hurry. if you have the page number can you point it out to me. I am trying to get a coat of epoxy primer on the body before the weather turns bad. down to taking the door skins off to remove the finial trim, handles and door locks. would like to know the most efficient way to paint the doors. Skin on or off.?
