  1. Has anyone seen the ZZ Top documentary on Netfix. I'm a fan of the boys from Texas and have seen them twice at the Buffalo Chip at the bike rally in Surgis South Dakota and may make it a 3rd time this summer if they make it again. In the documentary there is a shot of Billy Gibbons hanging out the passenger side window of 65 Riviera several times. Might be the same shot I'm not sure. I know Billy has a large collection of large cars most are hot rods.
  2. 160 days at sea and no end in sight.
  3. She is ready to drive that 58 and wants to learn how to drive a manual transmission so she can drive the station wagon
  4. I got my wife to pose on our 58 while we were moving some things around.
  5. She talks about her chief a lot. Respects him and the way he treats her.
  6. No engine or transmission. I couldn't even get that for my 58 and it drives
  7. Yes shipping she is a Petty officer 1st class. She was moved into that as soon as she could be. Lots of determination and willingness to do a little extra there
  8. They just past the 120 mark. My daughter crossed the equator so is now officially a shellback
  9. Actually had at 3 out this weekend lost storage and have to move things around. But they all started and drove and got some excercise.
  10. Not many 2 door sedans around. This had dual exhaust but that doesnt mean it's a V8. Very nice looking car
  11. I mentioned my daughter Sarah on the USS San Jacinto. They passed a milestone on April 27 of 100 days a sea without touching land. No port calls because of Covid-19. No end in sight now maybe June or July. She's still smiling and has some of the care packages left I sent.
  12. If someone knows the correct wiring to the regulator on a 58 Buick I am not sure that I still have it correct I had the generator checked it was working great I think I had it flashed it right and the regulator isn't working I had put a new an honor and I may have burned it out I have another new one but I don't want to hook it up wrong
  13. I know this probably doesn't directly have anything to do with Buicks but it does have to do with my Daughter Sarah who was at the 100th in Flint and at least 2 BDE meets over the years. She is a true Buick lover and is currently on an underway aboard the USS San Jacinto with the task force led by the USS Eisenhower. I am very proud of her for so many reasons and she sent me a message the other day saying that since leaving they have not been allowed to touch land. They will probably not see any port visits until at least May so I asked her what she would like me to send in the way of things they might like. Today we went shopping and sent her a couple care packages. Thank goodness they give a discount on military addresses. I used to have a picture of her following me driving my 1955 Buick Special while we were on a poker run. You could see her smile a mile away and she drove that car when ever she had a chance manual steering and brakes no problem. I had planned on making her peanut butter cookies but I got home yesterday afternoon and have to leave today with a load of meat to Indianapolis so no time this time I am home. Maybe next time,
  14. I have been watching Black list and they drove a 1964 Electra? under a truck totaling it out. I am hoping it was tv magic and they had a wrecked stand in that took its place because they never show it crashing into the truck,
  15. Joe was the first man I met in the Buick Club. It was at the BDE meet in Deadwood SD and I was driving my 1970 GSX and he came right up and introduced himself and then had to show me the 455 in his 1957 Buick. He was a great guy and always there to help if you needed it. I was so happy I had the chance to help him once after all he did. We were on our way home from the BDE meet we had in Ontario Canada and saw the Coupe De Grape on the side of the road. He had ran out of gas because the gas gauge didn't work and he had a small gas can but the car still wouldn't start. Of course he had a tow rope in the trunk and we hooked my 58 Buick Special to his 1938 Coupe and pulled him about 10 miles to the next gas station. He will be greatly missed.
  16. Can't make my phone app work sorry but I made this message just to see if I can post. I don't show my profile and I don't see anywhere to sign in.
  17. As far as the 58 I purchased that from the original owners grandson. When purchased it was in storage in Fort Collins Colorado and it was still titled in the original owners name. The car was purchased new from the Buick dealer in Guymon Oklahoma and spent almost all of its life in Liberal Kansas. It only has around 55,000 miles on it and is pretty odd for a Special because it has factory A/C, power steering, power brakes and speedminder. I think the car was repainted and had some of the of the interior redone because it sat outside in the hot sun. the one thing about this car is there is no rust anywhere and I have been under it several times and looked. The A/C doesn't work and it needs an A/C pump. I am putting a few pictures of the 1957 Crown camper I bought last summer that I plan to pull behind the station wagon a nd the 58.
  18. I guess it is so small I assumed it was a 1 barrell. I will need to look I only saw one adjustment screw but that was all I was looking for.
  19. One good thing about getting the cars out and driving them is fixing the little things I put off for later. The car always idled a bit rough and smelled a bit rich. I know that the V6 has a reputation for running a bit rough but this seemed more that I was comfortable with. So off to the parts store and new vacuum hoses and the roughness went away and grab the screw driver and adjust the idle on the one barrel carb and it just purrs like a new engine. Got rid of a most of the smell. Even when its cold I have to roll down the window when I take off from a stop just to hear it purr. I've been tinkering with other things also. The weather has been nice and the other day I took it to a car wash and cleaned all the dirt and salt off. I am almost tempted to just keep it as my daily driver as much as I enjoy driving it. I do look forward to writing the article because this car is so much of a survivor. It has AAA decals on it and the original Buick dealers metal plate as well as the original key that has never had the center punched out and the original owners manual. Also seatbelts that I believe were put in when the car was new, a period correct altimeter and compass and a CB radio box that will let you listen to the CB over the radio.
  20. That meet always sounded like a nice easy going one to visit. I have a 1957 Crown 13 foot camper I have to do a little work on but planned on taking it to a meet and camping on the way.
  21. How many Buicks were made with 4 bolt wheels. That what this has on it. I don't think I have ever seen that on a Buick before.
  22. Well it surprised me but these wheels are 4 bolt pattern. Now I am not sure where to go this is really oddball. Maybe I will need to look for some very tall 13 inch tires or just deal with what I have. It just sounds like the motor is screaming at 65 miles an hour.
