  1. llo its been a long time since I have been on here very much. I am now officially semi retired so I will at least have time to work on a few projects and use the rest. The fleet of cars is down to just and only 2 are old enough to warrant Historical plates in South Dakota. The first project I have pulled into the shop to get road worthy again is my Maui Blue 1990 Reatta. it had sat neglected for several years in a garage and had some dead mice smell in it but after being told to pour a lot of Pine Sol onto the carpets for the past year if is actually starting to smell much better and thank fully there doesnt seem to be a lot of damage to the interior or wirelng, The main things I need to focus on right now are the rear struts are so bad that it is nearly impossible to drive over 50 MPH on anyrhing but a perfect highway. Does anyone here have good source for these and in the end will probably need front struts also. Next is the radio and the clock displays and when you power it up the station it is permanently stuck on 98.1 lights up but the none of the functions work including the antenna. There was on old forum someone mentioned they thought there was 2 fuses but I can find no place for a second fuse. Any ideas about this would be appreciated Sid Rollings
  2. My little 6 with the 3 speed manual is pretty peppy. I enjoy driving it a lot.
  3. I have a 1963 Buick Estate Wagon with a V6 and 3 speed manual transmission. I need a starter for it and and find one. The correct one for this car has horizontal mounting bolts not vertical.
  4. Looking for a starter for my 1963 Buick Special Estate Wagon. It has a V6 and 3 speed manual transmission. The starter has to mount with horizontal bolts not vertical bolts.
  5. I have been getting rid of cars and pickups recently. It's just beyond my ability in time and tools to have too many projects. I started by listing my 1965 GMC for sale on Facebook at what I thought was a high price. Less than 3 hours after listed it I had a cash offer for what I was asking and the next morning cash in my hand and the pickup gone. I had planned on listing my 58 in the Bugle but things went so well I listed it on Facebook and 3 days later I had a buyer in Chicago for full price. He had been worried about getting it delivered but when I told him we would deliver the car by driving it to him plus expenses he sent me a the payment to my bank and planned our trip. So July 29th we packed up a few tools and some suit cases and at 03:45 in the morning left. The car ran great and until it got hot in the afternoon it was a pleasant drive. We arrived Palatine Illinois at 3:30 that afternoon after a 525 mile drive tired and hot but happy with our trip.. We rented a car and stayed in Chicago an extra day then flew home. A nice break in our daily routine. First 3 pictures as we were leaving. The last was the new owner happy with his new car.
  6. Got my 15" wheels on my wagon. It cruises much easier than it did on the 13's. Now if I can find a starter
  7. Now I need a starter for the wagon. I am having trouble finding one. It has the 2 vertical mounting bolts and the only one I can find is the one with horizontal bolts. I have tried NAPA which shows a picture of it on there website but has no availability and O'Reilly and another local store list them for over $200 but it's a special request and even then they don't know if they are available. Any ideas will be helpful.
  8. I have been selling some things so. I can work on one. Sold my 65 GMC short box step side pickup on Facebook in 2 hours and was going to post my 58 here but when I put it on Facebook it sold in 2 days mostly because I told the new owner I would drive it to Chicago and deliver it in person. Going to keep the 63 and the Reatta for now. Sold my 2015 Peterbilt also and driving a company truck. Hopefully I will see some of you at some events soon.
  9. Says I can't because of low memory. Working on my 63 wagon can anyone tell me if the dog dish hubcaps have black pin stripes or lettering
  10. My 1963 wagon was featured in the Bugle this spring thanks to Pete Phillips. We all owe Pete a big thank you for the work he does for the club. I mentioned I was looking for a set of rare 15" wheels for it to help the road speed and sure enough Pete had a set. I finally got to Texas and picked them up and this past week have been working on them to get them painted. I brought my dog dish hub caps home last night and cleaned them up as much as I could for a set of 58 year old hub caps. They look pretty good but I am wondering if from the factory the had black lines and lettering on them or were that as is. If anyone can answer this it would be appreciated. I don't think I'll tackle painting that if it's supposed to be black but will look for someone to do it for me. 42 years driving truck and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be.
  11. I have been looking for a water pump for my 63 wagon with a 196 V6 in it. I haven't found any through classic Buick Panther but I went to the Buick Farm and according to them the water pump for the 215 without air conditioning is the same as the water pump on the small V6 nobody else listed it that way is that correct. Thanks in advance Sid Rollings
  12. I saw this somewhat modified 55 with California plates on a trailer with 2 other cars from California this morning. Couldn't get a good look under it because the guy who was hauling it was backing getting ready to leave so not sure if it has original drive train. Nice straight car.
  13. I follow the advice of old tank. People that use tools bleed. From working on my 58 this weekend
  14. Well it's back on the road with my Station Wagon. My son and his wife just gave me my first grandchild (baby boy) and his pickup blew a head gasket and her car has other problems. I really don't want them driving something unreliable with the new baby so I'm letting them use my pickup until they get al least one fixed. In the meantime I will enjoy using my wagon.
  15. Fixed the heater hose this morning and when we were leaving to drive the car to the shop my wife Amber asked if she could drive. Sure said I. We met my son on the interstate on the way and he had to call. He said she had a huge grin on her face and her hair was blowing in the wind. Another happy classic Buick owner.
  16. Had a nice evening driving the 58 30 miles to LaVerne Minnesota tonight to The Verne drive in movies. They were showing the original Ghostbuster and we had a great time. Just as we pulled up to park at home a heater hose broke so I know what I'll be doing in the morning. Here's a few pictures from the evening. Bring back any memories.
  17. She will be leaving the Navy this fall because she has accepted an offer from NOAA another uniformed agency of the government to go through officer training and is looking forward to this new challenge. I don't think I could have ever done one basic training let alone two but she's already training her body and mind for the new challenge.
  18. Yes sonar operator as well as qualified to service all aspects of sonar. She just got a quarterly award for being the junior sailor of the quarter as well.
  19. She puts everything that she has into everything that she does and always does it with a smile. I am proud of all of my children but she has a special place in my heart because of her commitment play everything she does
  20. Even after all this time she's still smiling. Still at least August sometime and she sent me a new shirt. USS San Jacinto, part of task force with the Ike USS Eisenhower.
  21. This was way back before the beards when the group was just getting together. It looked like late 60's early 70's maybe
  22. Has anyone seen the ZZ Top documentary on Netfix. I'm a fan of the boys from Texas and have seen them twice at the Buffalo Chip at the bike rally in Surgis South Dakota and may make it a 3rd time this summer if they make it again. In the documentary there is a shot of Billy Gibbons hanging out the passenger side window of 65 Riviera several times. Might be the same shot I'm not sure. I know Billy has a large collection of large cars most are hot rods.
  23. 160 days at sea and no end in sight.
