  1. Matt, Just to be clear regarding those inner rockers, were you offering them for sale? That would be great but I can understand if that is not the case. Lawrence
  2. Hey Matt, Just 2x checking; are the rockers the same or different between 2 and 4 door they are coming off a 4 door so I could at least use them for patch material if I can't use the whole thing for a 2 door. Thanks, Lawrence
  3. So the few bolts you see along the bottom is all there is other than the front fender bolts? That's good to know, looks like I have a couple of respectable outer rockers! Thanks again.
  4. Hi all. Can anyone tell me how the outer rockers on a '42-48 Buick are attached? I'm scrapping out a sedan and the rockers only have a wee bit of damage. The seem to be bolted/screwed on but I'm thinking that that must have additional mounting points. Pics would be great. Thanks.
  5. Thanks. Again, I have to go to my storage facility to check the Convert and Sedanette cars to see if I should keep the sedan frame. Hate scrapping perfectly good material. By the way I love your convert and always check in to see more pics; keep them coming please! Hey, how do you remove the antenna? Looked for set screws and couldn't see any. Just scavenging whatever may be useful for whenever I start my to Buick projects....
  6. Thanks for all the tips guys. I really appreciate it. Well no senses removing the window mechanisms for th convertible but I may do so anyway for backup for my Sedanette. A few other bits for "just in case" as well. Maybe this week I'll get the time to visit the storage facility. I just hate tossing good parts that I know someone, somewhere could use.
  7. Thanks for the seat tip. Regarding the window mechanisms it would not be the window frame but just the winding part . If my power window mechanisms are shot then "owner assist" may be in the offing.
  8. I'm parting out a '47 sedan and thought I'd save the side window mechanisms and the back seat springs in case my convert needs them. Couldn't the seat frames be narrowed to fit the convertible and why won't the window mechanisms work other than the retainer for the glass might be a little short?
  9. I'm scrapping out a '47 Buick sedan. The frame is in good shape. I was wondering what the differences are between a sedan and convertible frame. Both cars are 50 Series. Any help appreciated.
  10. Matt, you last posted August 1st. Something must have taken place since then. Fall colours and the Buick pics? Summer rides? What are you doing.....
  11. I'm trying to get hold of jackofalltrades but have forgotten how to send a PM. Instructions guys? Jack are you out there?
  12. Just wondering what the original convertible top material was. Haartz cloth canvas, vinyl? When I bought mine it came with a brand new vinyl top. I just may use this bless anyone here would like to donate! It would make a great pattern.
  13. Matt, very nice. I may have missed a post but did you convert to 12 volts? Or can you get 6 volt halogen bulbs?
  14. Matt, I just caught up on your progress; well done. Very impressive. I have't started mine yet as I continue work on a TR6 but when I do I will be sure to reference this thread for inspiration!
  15. Nice to hear from you again. Take your time and do it right. It's supposed to be a hobby not work, and the slower you go may let me catch up to you!
  16. Bob, just read this thread. How's the Buick? Where did you purchase the car from? IIf the US any problems coming over the border?
  17. Afterwards of aligning the fender back up, I'll drill some pilot holes in the fenders for some small finishing nails and then off they come to be painted. Shoot, I'm even contemplating pulling the body back off to shoot the color as I never had the correct paint to paint the cowl section. Thinking, thinking, thinking! Matt Boy that sound familiar! It works great and it REALLY saves time. Good luck Matt. Watching every few days.
  18. Matt, If you have everything lined up to your satisfaction you may want to try this idea. Drill little alignment holes where two pieces meet. For example, before I take off a well aligned hood I drill a hole through each hinge into the hood's reinforcement structure. When replacing a small nail inserted into the two holes will ensure perfect alignment once again. It may save a lot of frustration.
  19. I'm a relatively new member. Joined to keep up with Jackofalltrade's convertible. Now I find this thread! Wow between the two I'm thinking I'd better start finishing my TR6 and get busy with my '47 "56C" and "56S' projects. The sedanette is good but not as nice as this one. I've been getting a few odds and ends over the year. The power window switches were a 8 year wait. Those pics of the sedanette are really appreciated as inspiration, thanks
  20. Hey Matt, Got the package today! Thanks a bunch. The little problem with the clip with be remedied via the miracle of Tig welding. The cover plate is way better than the driver's side I have. I'm close to have all of the little hard to find bits.
  21. Looking for the passenger side power window bezel and clip and the bezel for the power seat switch.
