  1. I suppose the mobile version is "just" good enough if there is no other option. This mobile version likes to log me out regularly. Forum app never did. Some guys like me follow multiple forums & it's nice to have them all in one place.

So the questions still stand, can we give/get the Tapatalk or Forum Runner apps another try???

is there another forum app u would prefer we use???

I'm not sure how it all works.

    Thx in advance

  2. As my project patiently awaits some attention I noticed the cheap water pump I purchased, polished & installed is now leaking.

In an effort to avoid this again in the future I found this…(link below)

Does anyone have any experience with these water pumps? Sounds tempting…I may pull the trigger

  3. WOO WHOO!!!!

a standing ovation is in place here. Building these Riv's is a task in itself. U were faced with extra extra extra rough terrain (Vegas heat, sand filled car, your own bodywork & home paint job, broken engine…). Phew…that's enough for anyone to pull the plug & call it quits

Not U…After all that, U stuck it out & now u got another first-gen Rivi on the road. That is a HUGE accomplishment brother. And she's beautiful…if my drooling doesn't give it away, let me tell u, I'm jealous haha

    Great job!

Someday I hope to get my build where u are with yours.

Thx for the motivation & thx for sharing…

  4. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune :( Chris.

If u can recall on my build thread, it turns out my Frankenstein build has a swapped 401 Nailhead block from a 62 Electra  weird, I know right? Hope that helps broaden your search for a new block.

22 year ownership & I had no clue. With direction from guys on this forum I posted pix & it turns out my swap was done correctly. Seems as if ALL internals from my original block were swapped, including original flex plate, making for the marriage of my ST400 a success. Hope that helps…

  5. If the 63-64 upper controls are similar to my 65 then that means the attachment point is also different. The rubber bumper in the link looks round as does the mounting tab/nipple that pushes thru the control arm. My 65 rubber bumper is rectangular as is the mounting tab/nipple. I am anal, I would buy the right bumpers (that's just me tho)

With that said, installation was hell. I tried multiple times with different ideas & the SOB would not push thru the hole in the control arm . I even ended up tearing a chunk out of one rubber bumper trying to pull it thru . Just as I was getting ready to throw the damn rubber bumper in the trash a co-worker walked up & blew my mind with his simple idea that worked like a charm. It may be hard to explain but u guys probably already know the trick & I'm just wasting your time haha.

My buddy looped a thick string around the tab/nipple of the rubber bumper & fed the string thru the hole in the control arm in the same direction that u would install the bumper. Then as I held/pushed the bumper to the underside of the control arm as he began to slowly pull/work the string. As he pulled/worked the string out past the rubber & thru the hole the frigin' rubber bumper followed. This wasn't as easy as it sounds, there is obviously a bit of resistance that u have to overcome. But the damn bumper seemed to fall right into place as he pulled the string thru. Blew my mind, I called it magic haha it looked cool. But I am easily entertained haha

  6. I have a 65 which doesn't have those type of bumpers. Not sure if the 63 64 & 65 use different ones. One thing I did notice is that u are looking at 61-63 Big Buick parts. You need to be looking at 63-65 Riviera parts. Hope that helps

  7. the last few forum changes kicked us "Forum App" users out of this forum. that coupled with busy life helped me to stay away from the forum. now I would like to come back...I HOPE THIS UPDATE FIXES THE 'FORUM APP' PROBLEM...HINT HINT

  8. Thanks for the feedback fella's...truly appreciated.

I've had a handful of paint & body quotes & like what the last guy is saying/describing. He works out of his house & doesn't live far from me. He was recommened by a friend who has had multiple cars painted by this guy & loved his work. I have NOT seem his work yet but planning to go today to scope out his latest work (VW bus). Then I hope he has some previous cars that he worked on that I can go visit

@Jason: I totally understand the "don't pay in advance" & "only pay for what has been completed"  concept. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most guys (mechanics, painters, contractors) required some money up front for supplies?? & How much should that be??

@Devildog: I thought I couldn't justify someone doing my bodywork either until I started trying to juggle life projects & began to lose my sanity...haha

@Mitch: I too am being called a jerk a lot lately. But its not by my son. It's the wife haha. Keep truckin' forward friend, your project will be done someday

  9. WOO WHOO!! Congrats Chris. This is a huge accomplishment that I can relate to. Sooooo glad u didn't have the same engine "break-in woes" as I posted in my thread. But I bet having a pro machinist for a son at your side helping the engine build was a key component. Congrats to the both of u.

I just posted an accomplishment of my own on my thread that u might enjoy. Then I began to skim thru the forum to find this post full of awesomeness!! Thank for sharing...

One cost u didn't mention was the A/C & insulation u installed in the garage. I too was gonna follow your lead. But California just doesn't feel as hot as Vegas. :)

Lastly, does that color blue make your Riviera look small or are you like an 8 foot giant of a man LOL

  10. It's been a whole year since I posted any progress. Here is the latest. Not much but something is better than nothing.

I hate to call myself a quitter but it takes a real man to admit defeat. I gave up on the idea of doing my own bodywork & paint. Hats off to you real men who have taken on that punishment. I was ready to do the same but the home projects are taking precedence. I spent time on one fender between working on my house & quickly realized it takes a ton of time & effort to do bodywork. To add to the pain, my Riviera is a total bondo cake (tons of bondo needs to come off). So I've set out to look for a good paint & body guy. Waiting to hear back from a potential prospect now.

Here is are two videos of my car FINALLY hitting the road again after a 18 year (give or take) slumber.

Also had my inner fenders blasted then I coated them in Eastwoods Rust Encapsulting paint. I planned to smooth out the voltage regulator pad & some of the factory wrinkles. But at this point I've been cutting corners just to get this old girl back on the road. Final coat of paint was Rustoleum Satin Black 7777 (same as firewall).
