  1. Jim thanks for the photos of my ford and olds.. my family had a great time at the show.. our caravan . Bob (46 woodie) my father sent me pics of your car at Macungie but he missed you! a few of the Penns Woods Guys met at my House and had a little caravan to the show.. I love the accessory mirror on my ford.... having 3 wagons in tow.. made it all the better.. You could see quite a few wagons from the TOP of the square.. I hope we can attract MORE woodie folks to the show next year.. more photos from our pal "edge of speed" here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151379847817255.1073742654.232510392254&type=1
  2. wonder if the owner of this one will claim it.. (and hopefully post more current pics)
  3. I was able to purchase material from macs? or perhaps it was lebarron Bonney.. you'll need to call them and speak to someone about exactly what you need. additionally.. you'll need a hot day, and a helper who doesn't realize how ridiculous this process is.. (my 14 year old neighbor danny was the best) The material used on George's old Plymouth was a bit more difficult to work with.. and somewhat "thicker" than the material I used on the oldsmobile.
  4. Unless something catastrophic occurs.. these will be on display.. at the AACA fall meet in Hershey hopefully they will be assembled with the rest of A door.. the lifelong quest for a sportsman.. is happening..
  5. Somehow I have failed to post a photo of the "Awesome Plymouth"
  6. well... we've failed again.. second piece.. similar defect.. I think I need to try another material supplier.. or perhaps another lot of material.. I currently have the worlds most expensive firewood..
  7. I looked and I dont currently have pics..
  8. recently I began working with my friend Robert to develop a plan for the process that we would use to recreate a few of the more "difficult" pieces of wood.. unfortunately as with many of the "best laid plans" we ran into a little snafu.. I wanted to start "at the bottom" so our first piece was the driver side lower door horizontal.. I "technically" have a passenger side lower door horizontal as seen here (the bottom of the door) unfortunately.. about 8 hours in.. this happened.. I've heard this called a "beauty mark".. but I see no beauty.. needless to say..if it were not for this unforeseen defect.. I'd be announcing that I successfully recreated my first part.. alas.. it just was not to be.. adding salt to the wound.. I had been saving this piece of maple especially for the first part.. and it was the clearest piece of maple I've had for quite some time.. when we noticed the defect.. we were too far in not to make the material look like "something" so we just kept going.. just to prove the process. tonight.. my education cost a few more dollars.. and after a break for the holiday I'll get to make this one again..
  9. I've hired a friend to help with the project.. he is doing a great job.. photos soon..
  10. I cant recall if this is a us body and forging or not? the car is a 36 plymouth.. owned by a good friend and woodie club member. I've dubbed it the "awesome Plymouth"
  11. my good friends (and woodie club members) are planning to drive the west to east leg of the lincoln highway tour.. in this.. a former Nick Alexander car! unfortunately.. I'll be stuck checking out the tour when the eastern leg stops overnight in malvern pa..

  15. ken.. the car you had messaged me about was a Chrysler.. more progress coming soon..
  16. I like parts.. here's a set of NOS 32 ford wagon rear fenders.. that were for sale at hershey in 2011... i dont have a 32 wagon.. but wish I did.
  17. progress on the "floor" / "rocker" today.. hey.. ya gotta start somewhere..
  18. personally.. I like the chewing tobacco idea.. I wonder if I'd need a premium tobacco? or any old round can would work... on a more serious note.. I'd want to deal with the bugs before leaving florida.. no need to relocate them north with your move..
  19. FINALLY SOME PROGRESS!! the new shop is slowly coming together.. the former owner was a car guy.. but I had somethings that needed changed for my own tastes.. .. In the interim I had received a lead on some more convertible parts which "required" a trip to the detroit metro area a few weeks ago.. fortunately I was able to arrange it that my father and I were able to combine the trip with a visit to the Detroit autorama.. which was epic.. my frame came back from my favorite amish sandblaster and I found a rear axle locally that I will be picking up early next week.. underneath this one will be somewhat "contemporary" ..... hope to post more process photos soon.
