I've actually used this '38 as a template for some of my restoration...they put this one together the closest to factory.

Not so sure about the turn signal and heater, but it had dual wipers, dual spare tires, with covers.
I would be in heaven If I could fine that headlight knob with the the hi-beam indicator in red....
I have never seen the vin tag below the oval. Also never seen the oval tag not having the LR. Beautiful truck. Looks like Vic's and Alex work and differently yours.

I have come across with a lot of parts being different for 38.
Example,
Part 758697 up to LR 1450
Part 759000 after LR 1450.
What was changed on the 38s?
Above numbers are not accurate. Just using as an example.
What I'm seeing that is different during the 38 model year.
Door parts
Frame parts
Interior parts.
Another mystery,
what is a MC-RC sedan?

I looked for a long time for an axel puller, couldn't find one. I modified an slide hammer and gently pulled it out.
I put the axle nut back on with a large washer and used a finger type end with a slide hammer. Take the backing plate off and put an old drum on and hit the drum with a hammer.

Chris' monster speedster rolled out after a long Montana winter. Powered by a 1100# 413" Chrysler Industrial six on a massive 133" wheelbase Studebaker President chassis, '33 DeSoto radiator shell, 7.50-20 tires (36.9" dia.), homemade body, and parts picked off the ranch. These rare MONSTER truck sixes produced 205 ft/lbs at 1600 RPM. Hopefully, he'll be driving it down to Bonneville this year. It's bigger than a full-size pickup, so it'll be easy to spot. #MoparMontana #MontanaDodgeBoys

I was told by a customer that these don't need rebuilding. Only the shaft seal goes bad. Replace that and your good to go.

Dad also prepped cars for the strip and mag shoots and articles. He would also bring home parts from the back door for cars in the neighborhood. There were some strong running cars around.

The original engine has a cast date of Nov 16, 1960. It was one of the first batch of castings that were done with an incorrect casting number. The incorrect one was ground off and stamped with the correct number. The second batch of castings also had an error on two digits which were also ground off and restamped. The 3rd batch of castings finally got all 7 digits casted correctly.
I'm aware of the original design engineers for the W project. What was your father's name? Was he assigned to the project after it was developed in '58 or part of the original team?
BTW, the 400hp 409 you owned was one of just 742 produced in '65.

The 65 09 400 were mostly installed in the lighter big cars. Very few found there way into a SS convertible.

His name was Ben Montanbeau. He was a backup driver for NASCAR in the 50s until he smashed a Sheriffs car in Joplin MO when he was drunk. GM hired him as an engineer and a professional driver. He would bring these cars home and street race on 96, Woodward and Telegraph. He would take me and friends on these joy and professional rides. George and Zoro were at our house working on cars. They were my dads drinking buddies. LOL. I had a great childhood during these times.

One of your recent trips ? Wow, you are very fortunate to be able to be able to travel and see this stuff. Never take it for granted Dave.
Thanks for sharing and be safe out there...
Not my load. I was supposed to haul this load but the timing was not in our favor. This is one of our customers that lives in Southern CA and the load went to Chico CA. Couple of the trucks we sold to this customer. I did do these loads.

The 1 1/2 tonners had bigger cabs on them which they shared with 2 ton from what I know. Also starting with the 1 1/2 ton cab the engine hood has a big sign on both sides saying 'DODGE BROTHERS' or 'DODGE'.
I went back and spent a bit of time going through the 10 photos of your truck. We'll get it right yet. I missed a couple of things. The gearshift lever and transmission tower do not follow the shape of a 1/2 ton. The rad grille has a diiferent crankhole from the 1/2 tonners. The 1/2 ton crankhole is connected to the bottom of the grille by a long stem. However the larger trucks have 'rounded ' corners on the bottom of the windshield rather than the 'sharp' corners of the 1/2 tonners which yours seems to have.
Yes your truck does appear to be listed as "K-34 1 1/2 ton Cab" with a correct serial number for that series. So several things now come up.
The truck is much bigger in the flesh than in the photos. The front fenders are most likely going to be bigger than the car fenders so you may end up repairing what you have as 1 1/2 ton fnders are going to be rare. The rear fenders appear to not have the same 'pattern' on them as the 1/2 tonners so they too will be hard to find. The serial number listing says the closing date was 'Oct. 1935' but it has the dash of a '33. Typical of CPDD manufacture in those days. Unless the cab has been switched it appears the truck has a left over '33 cab.
The serial number on the HC/KC series is stamped just behind the rear spring shackle of the front left spring. It's quite large and near the bottom of the frame face. The numerals are about 1" high and the stamping is about 6" long. The number is stamped into the steel so a wire cup brush on a drill is safe but do not use a sanding disc. If it matches the serial number you have then it is indeed a 1 1/2 ton Commercial Express pick me up.
Cabs from 1/2 ton to 2 ton are the same. The fire wall and toe board is different.
