  1. A big thank you to West Peterson who assisted in putting me in touch with other Crane Simplex owners. Here is a picture of my car taken this morning and the info I have received to date. Hi Kirk, Thanks for your phone call. I hope you really enjoy your new beautiful car! Remember the fun is driving them. I have little history of your 1917, Simplex #2315; but believe I do have the original owner. Here's what I know to date: The chassis was tested 3/6/1917, on snow & ice covered roads of New Brunswick, NJ, using a "light enclosed drive test body" and chains on the rear wheels, by a Simplex test driver and delivered 3/10/1917, by Gladen [a Simplex employee]. This info is from a test book in my possession, author unknown. Don't know who or where it was delivered to. Based on the 2315 car number and the test date I believe its a 1917, and the 1915 designation incorrect; 1915 car numbers stopped around #2100 or so. It was registered in CA by Carlton Earl Miller, San Mateo in Nov. 1917, #308132, & Flatiron Bldg, San Francisco in 1921, #310450. This from CA registration data received recently. I have no other owners prior to Al Johnson in 1996. Your car's body is believed to be its original Healey body. Also it had the wire wheels when tested.
  2. Most people have no clue the time we spend on these projects to make them right. for the owner to be done in 2015 I am sure he has 1 or 2 people working on it full time. It is always the smallest details you spend the most on.
  3. This is very helpful I will call the numbers today and start the ball rolling. Thanks
  4. That is correct. The Google will give me lots of general info. I am looking for any history on this particular car. Also a general idea of surviving numbers and some contacts with other owners who can help with info as I go into some repairs to ensure I am keeping it correct.
  5. Who here can help me with some info on a 1915 Crane-Simplex car number 2315. this car is a dual cowl blue with red wire wheels. Thanks in advance.
  6. Just got the Moyer running on friday. I was amazed after cleaning the plugs and gapping them some fresh fuel and it fired with fairly little trouble. After fixing a slow leak on the left rear tire I surely wanted to take it for a drive, but I would have to move two non running cars behind it to get it out. I will drive it on tuesday and report back in. I love the gravity feed fuel systems on old cars. The fuel leaks out after time and you don't have to worry about the stale fuel gumming up all the carb parts.
  7. edinmass can you tell me the difference between the 1240a Silver Arrow and the 1242 convertible coupe. Besides of course the obvious differences of the coupe vs convertible. Was it a higher level of interior trimming? Thanks
  8. Hello every one. I have photographed my 1931 Reo Royale 8-35 for v.milke on this board. The pictures are on a google drive. pm me for the link if you need pics of a assembled car. I make no claims that the car was correctly done. I did not do the restoration, I bought it in it's current condition. I am only trying to help some members that are assembling a couple cars by providing a reference. Thanks, Vintagerodshop
  9. Hi Everyone. I am looking for one headlight lens to replace a cracked one on my 1910 Stoddard Dayton Towncar. Thanks in advance
  10. Hi Jonathan, Yes everything here is going well. I did sell the Horch and now j491x as they were the bigger number cars to take the heat off a little. Everything else is just like juggling 47 balls in the air. Learning lots about car moving logistics and just having a crash course on driving a 1915 simplex-crane what a animal. I came across this youtube video about audi trying to locate the last Horch.
  11. I will wash and vacuum it tomorrrow and start shooting.
  12. Jonathan how are you? Can you or Alsancle tell me why the headlights look to tall in that picture is it the mounts, the lights or do i need more sleep?
  13. Hello Mike. I just brought home my REO Royale Victoria. You said you wanted pictures. Is their a particular area you need shots of?
  14. Hello Mike. I just brought home my REO Royale Victoria. You said you wanted pictures. Is their a particular area you need shots of?
  15. I will have a look tonight at the body number. I am just running out the door to pick up a 1915 crane simplex and a 1915 pierce arrow.
  16. Look I am derailing my own thread about Moyer's. haha. 1931 Pierce Arrow model 43 with rear windshield.
  17. I think you may have mistakenly posted in this thread when you ment to post in the buy and sell forum. Regards
  18. Thanks Trimacar, The reason I ask is the body tub is all wood which maybe hard to tell in the pics. I am concerned with having the correct amount of humidity to prevent it from cracking. Buy the way can you post pics of your 1931 Pierce. I also have a model 43 phaeton that was owned by Tom Lester from Lester tires.
  19. Thanks Ben, I will throw a bid on it. I have one on the grill shell but wouldn't mind any other Moyer stuff to collect.
  20. Hi Peter, yes I am already a member of the VCCC. and I have met Dan whom I assume is your son. I would be very happy to join the local Antique chapter. When do they meet? You probably know the car. I still have to Pick up the Crane-simplex, the Stoddard Dayton and the 1915 Pierce arrow from Terry's. I have to admit to having a bit of a storage problem right know. Peter can you email me at kirk@vintagerodshop.com with the local antique club details. Thanks
  21. Thanks Larry. I am more familiar with the 30's and 50's cars so this will be a bit of a change for me but am pretty excited. Can any one give me some good tips to keep the body preserved with out wrecking it?
  22. Hi everyone, i just wanted to share pics of my new addition to my collection. I am very excited! copy and paste the link in a new window to look at pics. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6do-6Z5Kg-FV1E1c3hzQkpoQk0?resourcekey=0-R-CuaABb2eA1vsxXN9DJiQ&usp=sharing The car is a 1913 H.A.Moyer largely original with the exception to the firewall, steering wheel and front top frame covers refinished, the engine was rebuilt about ten years ago and the wood wheels refurbished at the same time. the plans for the car are to get it running and gently enjoy it on some nice drives in the country. The car still has the use and care papers stuck to the underside of the seat floor boards the wood body and hood top has a wonderful velvet feel from the varnish / paint as it aged. from what i understand the car had about 38 horsepower which should feel very peppy with such a small open body on it. There is a small group of Moyer owners {six} I have only spoken to one other who also ran the "registry" he gave me some great info and history on the car telling me the story how the headlights where switched to swap with another Moyer causing a bit of work to find the correct buckets and rings. Let me know what you think. If any of you have stories or information about the Moyer cars chime in and share it.
  23. I personally quite like the front end. Was the car built on a "normal" roadster chassis or is it a little shorter?
