Hi all,
Must apologise for not being on the forum much and done very little on the car.
My wife's mother passed away the other day which has hit my wife pretty hard.( mine last year and her's this year )
That coupled with her sister living in Western Australia ( Ron, you'd know all about this )...she wasn't able to come over due to the return travel restrictions that have been in place.
Funny thing is she lives 3 hours out of Perth on a farm so the only one she could have spread Covid to is the cows !....if she even got it.
Anyhow, as you can imagine, we've had a lot to do in a short time only to be told the cemetery has a backlog and we have to wait 2 1/2 weeks for the funeral.
Now restrictions in WA have been lifted the family can finally come over.
I'm hoping to get back to the car this coming weekend and get it finished asap.
Just didn't want anyone to think that I've given up. It seems every time I'm about to get stuck into it something else crops up.
I shall be posting very soon.
Cheers
ian
Hello Ian, Condolences to your family on your loss You are right, the border restrictions have been hard on many At present there is talk of moving the DB rally which is being held in Busselton to South East South Australia Hopefully now that restrictions are being lifted the committee will let us keep it in WA

I think that it is only a two seater body Quite common in the early 1900s
-
That is not a rear entry body Not unless there is another seat

I had a wonderful experience in going the the track to do this for an old Mate The spectators were thrilled to see the Senior carrying their past and present hero's and I was very humbled by the interest that was taken in my car The speedway group are a bit like our clubs they are all getting older The 3 past Champions that I had the pleasure of carrying started their racing careers in the 1970s as young men These guys still go to the meets for enjoyment The only problem is that yesterday when we had our local club Valentines day Rally I had to keep saying "what" as the ears were still hungover from the noise. I don't think I could go every meeting but if my old mate Jonny Fenton needed a favour I would most probably say yes

There is a hard dry section between the trach and the grasses infield and that is what I drove on The mud on that track is a sticky goo I had to cross the track at a slight angle but that section was drier than some parts

I have that same problem, Ron, especially first thing in the morning.
Maybe your water pump needs new seals and impeller

Hey Ron, some time ago I was singing the praises of the "sock" type Radiator filter. I have used them on three other cars and recon they are great, BUT I have just discovered that my DA does not like them. I think the problem is that the one I have is too small (short) and does not protrude into the radiator far enough. This means that the water is forced out pretty well just the end of the sock. It squirts directly at the radiator cap and the radiator overflow pipe and chucks the water out when you crank out a few revs. I have one radiator that has a baffle in line with the radiator inlet pipe, which would stop this problem, but the radiator that I am using does not. I have taken the sock out and this has fixed the problem, and I have driven far enough that I think the sock has caught any gunk that was in the engine for the time being, so not an immediate problem, but will need a longer one if I re-fit one. They used to be available in three sizes, not sure if that is still so.
Anyway, thought it should be something you should be aware of if your Senior radiator is similar.
John
Thanks John, The Senior radiator has a baffle plate in the top tank to "spread" the water over the core If it is missing the pump tends to shoot the water straight up into the filler neck and consequently out the overflow tube

I definitely need one, can you send me pics? I believe the casting on them ends in 050
The one that I have measures 3 inches from the mounting flange to the end of the cone and the number is 18582.

I have a 4 cylinder nose cone if you need one I believe that the armature shaft is shorter as well

I take my hat off to the people that gave their time to complete the restoration that Doc started. It will be a fantastic testimony to a man that loved and shared his knowledge of these old Bodge Brothers Cars. Give yourselves a big pat on the back fellas.

Interesting, mine didn’t look like it ever had hood mounts (there was no evidence of old holes in the tub). The few other 128/129s I’ve seen haven’t had them. I wonder if they were an optional fit or perhaps Holden didn’t fit them but other body makers did?
certainly seem like a good idea to keep the hood firm when it is down.
There are no holes in my tub either The mounting bar for the brackets comes over the top of the tub

No Doug I haven't But I do have one off a Cadillac V8 and it is about 8 inches in diameter The ironic thing about it is the top and the inner tank is the same size as the one on my Senior
