Thanks Ron, are there any brackets it slides through or just a slot in the wood?

Just a slot in the frame timber I made my own end caps to fit the straps where the fit to the door frame and I riveted a flat bar to the other end so they don't pull out of the slot

  2. I made up that Gizmo about 4 years ago for when I was paneling and repairing the fenders It has 4 adjustable legs with panel clamps welded on to each one I had the lowest part of the fender clamped where the fender mates to the frame and it was resting on the other two  I had painted the underside 2 days prior to doing the outside You can get the information for this off UTube  Look in Larse Tips and Tricks for metal shaping  The paint is Wattyl Nylothane 2 pack

I learned the hard way (by restoring the front leaf springs and making all the mistakes you can make) how to restore leaf springs most efficiently, and am using this method in doing the rear 3/4-elliptic springs:

Disassemble the spring and blast all the flat surfaces.  Don't try to blast the edges yet because it will waste too much sand and air.  Bolt the leaves together.  Now blast the edges of the leaves.  Hang the assembled spring up, mask the end bushings, prime and paint it.  Disassemble it again, paint the bare flat surfaces with liquid graphite and hang the individual leaves up to dry.  When the graphite is dry, assemble the spring again.

T was told by an old fella mechanic that you never lubricate the spring leaves

  4. Congratulations mate I wish that I could be able to come over and give you a hand I only have one good one at present but you would be welcome to it Got a call from J.P. from across the ditch last night and he is coming over

  5. Had a wow of a time with Grant and his bride The grin on his face went past the ears it was that good He was astounded by the fact that my gearbox is very quiet The original one was stolen so the one that's in the car was built up out of 3 different ones using new bearings only

Awesome thanks everyone for the feedback! Much appreciated! I've own this car for just over a year now and starting to realize how hard it can be to find parts for these old mopars or information about them. Also well I'm here, does anyone know what to torque spec is for the studs?

Do them up the same as if they were nuts Tight

We took the 24 dodge Ute for a drive today. It went faultlessly and it was the first time grant has driven it. Was a great day being that he has waited 42 years to drive it. 87037445-D380-459A-A232-B39741A682FF.jpeg.eeaf8652f2b7bda08039b6ce734b266f.jpegBringing her out of the shed.

I will get onto the rear guards this week so we can get them on. Also need to Nickle plate the windscreen.

Looking Great Matt Is he coming over for the DB Rally?

I have been sorting out taps and dies at our "Men's Shed" for ages. [ heaps of double and 12x ups to sort out. ] Today I came across a no 12-32.  I looked at the wall chart and saw it started at 1 right up to 12 then 1/8 upwards. Cant remember but I think there may have been a couple of number not listed on the chart.

Ron. You were bloody lucky to get that undone.

How many do you need. there may be more available in Aussie or NZ.

Thanks Cutdown I am all sorted mate Got them made ok

Looked again, it is 3 slots.

Yes I know that The sample that I have has been grossly over tightened and put a twist in the threads That's the reason that I had trouble in working out the # of TPI The 3 slots allow the gas to run down from the cup into the combustion chamber without having to unscrew the pin all the way out

Although I love the ambition to just make a part you are missing, aren’t these already reproduced?

They are but taking the exchange rate of the Aussie $ against the Greenback then add the highly over inflated postage charges out of the States our 4 little pins are a $AU 100 items

Thank you nat that is exactly what I need to know

Hi nat Can you run a thread gauge over the threads on your pin The guy that I am making these for has come up with an old one and the thread seems to be 30 tpi on my gauge not 32 Thank you
