    Thanks mate.
I swapped the tops over and it fitted perfectly.
Took it for a test drive and , WOW!! The difference was quite amazing.
Absolutely no hesitation now and the engine seems to run so much smoother.
    So what I did!!
completely disassembled it, lightly blasted the housings.
Used an ultrasonic cleaner and ran it in that 4-5 times for 30 minutes at a time. Then used the scotch brite wheel on the bench grinder to individually clean each part.
Enlarged the throttle body by 1/16”, smoothed the throttle body out and then left a sand blasted finish on it to help the fuel to stay atomised. Reassembled it with new gaskets and that’s it.
Very happy with the results. 😁😁

Kind of started the getting rid of shit process, hopefully will be getting possession of our new place early July with a bit of luck. I have already sent a couple of pallets of parts over there and he’s put them in the corner of the shed for me. They are really nice people that we’ve bought the place of.
A truck full and a 5m bin full of scrap already gone.

Glad I am not at your place You would turf me out with the junk and the scrap

Thanks Ron!  Sometimes I'm envious of those Model T guys where almost anything you need is just a few clicks away....  Not much challenge it that though...

Same this end Mike. The DB 2249 series Senior is a rare car anywhere and mine with an Aussie touring body is one of 250 that were made so I can feel for you. We have no choice to become "Industrious" and make our own parts

71540 on the frame so may of 16.

This will just serve as a distraction from the 15 I want to be working on. Likely going to play with it long enough to make it go and stop and then pass it on.

Hi , Would it be possible for you to photograph the rear seat and the width of the pleats I have a friend who is restoring a Dec 16 Tourer and he has nothing to go by Thanks Ron

  7. Back when I started my career as a long distance driver the first trip that I went on was to Tom Price ,a new iron ore town in the Pilbara region of Western Aust. Most if not all operators those days still ran tube type tyres and only the rich ran steel belted ones The bloke that I drove for was still running old rag cross ply ones From the turn off at Nanutarra to Tom Price was 268 miles and in that distance I broke down and repaired 84 punctures so I have had my share of lock rim type wheels Back in the day on a good trip 8 plus flats were not unusual On the particular trip that I had so many was because they had graded the road a couple of days before and all of the skins as we call them here were scraped in from the edges and it contained lots of 4 inch nails Those days we all done our own tyre changing and repairs Over the years with tubeless steel belted tyres it became quite rare to get punctures  Thank God for progress

Yes Ron it only took a 8 hour drive to find a good set of cat walks, who doesn't like a road trip.😊

    Cheer's Mark

Mark I would have done 10,000 ks looking for bits and pieces for my old girl The catwalks were all rusted like mine so I had no choice but to reproduce 2 new ones I sill  have the jig that I made to do the job just in case some other Dodgey person needs some down the track

Had a few days of decent weather so back on body work.

Got most of the filler work on the drivers side front guard done, also worked on the front chassis covers and front apron as well.

Using black epoxy primer I sprayed 2 coats on the underside of all pieces.

There will be a large addition to the manual collection of the DBC available soon. It is all scanned material, earliest Book of Information is 1920. But the rest of the manuals are from 1927 to 1939, most of which we did not have before. Includes 4, 6, and 8 cylinder information. Copies will be available from AACA library just like all of our other literature. This is labeled the Burchill collection on both the list on the DBC site and to AACA library. Most are owner's manuals, but some are Service Tool manuals and parts lists. There is also a DB/GB truck Master Parts Book from 1927, should help some of you truck guys. Take a look at the DBC site for the list and print dates in the Garage section. The list will be posted soon. We need a Senior owner's manual if anyone has one they could scan and send to me.

    What model Senior Doug ?

  12. We pray  and hope that all of you on the East Coast are safe from the devastating floods Especially  Robert B in Tweed Heads I remember seeing the photos of Robert's cleanup from the last time his place went under So so sad Keep your eyes on the DB face Book site for so updates on the DB rally in West Aust. We promise it is going to be a fantastic one

Since I’ve had the roadster back on the road and after an hour or so of driving I had found the oil pressure was dropping below what is normal. Which is about 30 psi at cruising speed. It wouldn’t change with adjusting the oil pressure valve.
So while I was working on it the other day I removed the sump to just check it out in there. Starting with the pump I pulled the bottom off and found the gasket on it was .5mm or .020”. I don’t think I actually replaced it when I had it apart cleaning it all as it came of in one piece and still looked good enough to re use. Also found a couple of the screws that were not as tight as I would of liked them. I changed the gasket to a 0.1mm  thick gasket. Basically like a sheet of paper and did all the screws up with a 1/4 drive ratchet. My oil pressure is a lot better now and running just above 30psi after full temp. The engine still looks brand new inside as it should. Much happier to have that oil pressure running correctly now.
I figured once the oil had got to a watery consistency it was bypassing the cogs ⚙️ and slipped down between the bottom plate.
Just wanted to post this in case anyone else ever has a similar problem.

Glad that you have found what is more than likely the problem The consequences would have been catastrophic if left unsorted
