  1. Thanks for the info Bud, thats a good idea to post adds on the equipment and antique caterpillar sites, members checking out old farm machinery would also be a good place to come across old truck parts etc, i have posted on smokstak as you have seen, and the parts i am looking for are mainly smaller items missing from the liberty, the front cast towing hooks, bonnet latch/ one of each would be enough to be able to reproduce the others, also need the water pipe fitting that connects the heads to the radiator top tank hose, i have only one rear cast steel wheel and would like another, but if i cant find one i will settle for putting the set of wooden rears on instead, my truck is arriving this week so there will probably be a few more things i'll need to source, i do have some contacts in the uk looking out for me, so who knows something may turn up, cheers mike.
  2. Hi, looking for some parts for a 1918 liberty truck project i have recently purchased, if anyone can help please let me know, thanks mike.
  3. Hi, looking for some parts for a 1918 liberty truck project that i have recently purchased, if anyone can help or knows of anyone who would have some parts or spares please let me know, thanks mike.
  4. Hi, is there anyone in milwaukee WI area who can help with tracking down a man who has an XA pierce arrow parts truck for sale, his phone number has been disconected and apart from writing a letter, it has been suggested to me that asking in the forum maybe a fellow enthusiasts would be prepared to go and look at it and liase with the owner thats if it is still available, if someone can help please pm me for details of the address, thought it doesnt hurt to ask, and i'm half a world away down under. mike cameron.
  5. Karl, i have sent you a private message, thanks mike.
  6. Hi ben, yes i have read your post, what a shame it appears to have not survived, the one that exists here has got a new owner in wellington [in the north island] i am hoping to get a look at it sometime this year, i have seen the one in the richardson truck museum in the south island, its a 1912 model R3 5 ton and it looks a very sturdy built vehicle, the truck i have is pretty complete compared to other projects i have, i will probably have to fit a carburetor that is close in size to the original and the other parts i need can be manufactured, but i will still keep looking for now, it will be a while before i can start the restoration as i am halfway through a model 24 albion truck, cheers mike.
  7. Hi Ed, i new the pa trucks were quiet rare, but i thought there must be a few others around, i know of one in a collection in belgium, which is complete and there were 1/2 a dozen or so imported into new zealand in the late twenties, two of these were xa's which i have found the remains of one, which is the short wheelbase model, ca 1923 according to the pa register, the one i am going to restore is very mechanicaly complete and is the long wheelbase model, 1925, i imported this from kendall new york about 4 yrs ago through contacts at the pa club who helped me i/d the chassis i had here, the main component i am looking for is the stromberg carburetor [MP2] and a starter and generator, the only other mechanical part missing is the gearstick and the topcover that holds it to the linkage box as the gearbox is in the middle of the chassis, this could be reproduced from pictures i have, i'll try to post some pictures in the next few days, thanks for your response. mike.
  8. HI all, still searching for some missing parts for a 1925 XA pierce arrow truck, i have tried contacting other P A truck owners through the pierce arrow society with limited success, if anyone can help with possible contacts it would be a great help, thanks in advance mike.
  9. hi dave, i have a 1918 white 5 ton model and information i got from the whitetruck club was that the serial number was stamped ontop of the cross member nearest the front of the gearbox, in the middle of the member, but they also told me a lot of chassis had no serial numbers stamped on to them, and i havent been able to find any on my truck, there was also a body tag attached to the wooden bulkhead that had serial number and model of truck but from pictures i've seen these tags may have started been put on just before the twenties?? plus they would be very easy to remove once the truck had fallen into disrepair, hope this is of some help, good luck, mike.
  10. hello eric, i have a chassis that is from 1919 with a X brace at the back end of the chassis, it is an english- J type Thornycroft truck chassis of around 3 1/2 to 4 ton size it is not chaindriven, but has a large wormdrive diff that weighs just over one ton, hope this helps, mike.
  11. hi neil, mike from nz, i bought the white truck accelerator pedal from you a while back, neil just wondering if you still have the brass magneto and throttle controls that were on the white steering box you had?? and do you know of anyone who has a pierce arrow truck, i have a mid twenties model XA that is missing a few parts, the spotlight looks like a good buy for someone, thanks mike.
  12. Hi, i am still searching for a stromberg MP-2 carb for a mid twenties pierce arrow 2 ton truck, the carb is an updraft and the air intake faces the block and actually draws warm air through the block to help vapourise the fuel, it is a rare carb but was used on a few different models of pierce arrow trucks, can anyone help? thanks mike.
  13. thanks for posting the picture of the latch, mike.
  14. hi jon, thank you for the pictures and advice, i had thought the mp 3 was a large 4 bolt carb as i had been offered one which was advertised as a pierce arrow truck carb, but the 2 bolt one you have pictures of is definately a lot closer in size to what i am looking for, in your opinion jon can the mp 3 you have be reduced by 20 % to match the flow of a mp 2, if i remember correctly the flange bolts are about 2 1/2 or so inches centre to centre, it wouldnt take much to make a adapter plate,i'll check that tommorow and let you know, cheers mike.
  15. hi jon, thanks for the advice, i realise that it is going to be a long shot trying to find an MP 2 carb, i did however find another pierce arrow 2 1/2 ton truck in CA which was missing the radiator aparently it had been stolen of the truck a few years back, the owner would not sell the carb seperately, and i wouldnt blame him for that knowing how few were made, i probably will have to consider adapting another updraft carb, but i have some time before i start restoring this truck, the MP 3 is a very large carb and from memory has a 4 bolt flange the MP 2 is 2 bolt, maybe it could be attached by a adaptor plate? something to consider, cheers mike.
  16. hi john, thanks for the offer but i'd like to try to find the correct stromberg carb if possible as i've been told adapting one can sometimes prove quiet costly, and not allways satisfactory, thanks again mike.
  17. hi, i do have one but its in quiet rough condition, could you post a few pictures of yours please, it should have a brass top, and the filler neck is about 3 inches high, thanks mike.
  18. hi neil, thanks for pictures, i have sent you a PM , those pedals could be from a white car or one of the smaller trucks? ones i'm looking for are square, hope to hear back from you mike.
  19. hi neil, thanks for the reply, i do have two steering boxs, but wouldnt mind having a look at the pedal assembly you have, any chance of a few pictures of them? thanks mike.
  20. hi, i am looking for a M series stromberg carb for an early 20's pierce arrow truck , carb type MP 2 carb is brass, hoping someone can help, thanks mike.
  21. hi dan, your truck looks like its in very good condition and original, i am still looking for some of the smaller parts for my 5 ton model, the glass oil sight fitting on the bulkhead, a fueltank or some detailed pictures and measurements, and any sheetmetal or plans/pictures of, if you know of anyone with spares or parts i'd be pleased to hear from them, thanks mike.
  22. looking for sheetmetal/bonnet, front guards and a fueltank, for my 1915/16 white truck project, 5 ton model, even if only for paterns, also looking for any of the bulkhead fittings-- oil pressure sight glass, choke lever, eisemann magneto switch, white I/D plate for model TC, appreciate any help, thanks mike.
  23. hi ron, thanks for the advice, and i check out ebay usually once a week, so hopefully something will turn up, cheers mike.
  24. hi, drbs, yes i am still looking for white chaindrive truck parts for a 3 ton truck, i need the sprockects that bolt to the insides of the rear rims as well as a few other missing bits, thanks. mark your marvel/schebler carburettor sounds like it may be an option as my chances of finding the correct stromberg carb are fairly slim, i dont know how many litres the pierce arrow engine is, but it is a very large 4 cylinder twin ignition engine, adapting another carb is a bit of a hit and miss affair i've being told, but better than nothing, maybe you could give me some more details then i could discuss it with a carb rebuilder here and see what he reckons, cheers mike.
