  1. I decided to take a break from what I was doing and started to read the new issue "The Way of the Zephyr" I noticed there was a article about a hole in the intake manifold. I then went and got my Manifold and gaskets. While inspecting the gasket I laid it down on the Manifold and to my surprise the holes didn't line up. I then went and got another gasket and it was the same problem. I had bought complete sets from Earle Brown Jr. One set was a few years ago and the other set was bought at the last Hersey meet. Here are two photos of both gaskets on top of the bottom of the Manifold. The Orange Markers are in the holes of the Gasket and the Violet Markers are in the holes. Left side Yellow Markers are in the holes. Gerry
  2. I just finished installing the rebuilt engine and while under the car to install engine bolts. I noticed there was a nut missing from part of the front axle. There is a split round bar that is connect by two bolts and nuts. I am missing one of the nuts. When I went to the parts page #23 for the front axle I could not find it. I am not sure this photo of the front axle is for my car as it does't show this bar. Gerry Here is a photo of what I am talking about. The photo was taken from bellow. .
  3. Tom Finally got around to follow your instruction and was able to remove the guts. I am now in the process of following Jakes tip to set the points. Gerry
  4. I ordered and received the hose part from one of our suppliers Boos -Herrel,
  5. I am trying to assemble the inside wire ring that secures the distributor shaft. Has anyone done this, and is there a trick to doing it.? Gerry
  6. I will be asking more questions on were parts and connections are to be made as I continue to install this engine. My question this time is after installing the fuel line I am not sure as to were it is to be routed to be joined to the fuel pump. Photos would be appreciated.
  7. I will be cleaning them with a tooth brush
  8. 38 ShortopConv, I appreciate your reply to were the oil lines are to be attached. I will clean up the holes before installing the brass connectors
  9. Tom, I will remove the rubber hose and find a suitable replacement part
  10. Tom, Here is what I did to make the connection at the tank Gerry.
  11. When I was dismantling the engine I took a lots of photos of each part I removed I saved them to a external Jump Drive. I am now starting to install these parts and now find out I am unable to review these photos. I will attach a photo of each part as I am installing it hoping someone has a picture of this part. The first one is on the rear of the engine were there are three holes, and if my memory serves me there were brass connectors which I believe are for the oil lines. Gerry
  12. larry I forgot about this parts supplier as I have used them in the past. I am not sure what the original length should be, as the piece of hose that I have measures just a little over 4'x 3" Seeing they only sell 3' lengths I will check with other suppliers. thanks.
  13. I need to replace the Fresh Air Hose and was wondering has anybody ever had to buy one . If so, who did you buy it from. Gerry
  14. Matt, I will head there tomorrow.
  15. When I dropped the tank off the guy asked if I minded if they changed the damaged siphon line I said no problem. From what my first observation when I got home was what a great job they had done, but after a further examination I notice the original line coming out of the tank had been replace with a 90 degree 5/16th pipe. This has now given me a problem as how can I attach a 1/4 copper line to this piece of steel pipe.? Gerry
  16. I talked to company today as was told they cut a section out of the tank so they can sand blast the inside. I explained my problem with the small tubing inside the tank. They said no problem, as they see this all the time. Dropping off the tank tomorrow. keep you informed when I get it back
  17. Ray500 I had phoned a company called "Gas Tank Exchange" and they quoted me $275.00 Cdn to repair the tank. I will call them tomorrow to see how they do the repairing of this tank. Hopefully they split the tank so I can get a the part in question. If not I may have to get in touch with the company you used.in order to get that part.
  18. Ray500 Your theory on how the hose got their is correct. I forgot about those days. I have taken a photo of the inside of the tank and it shows a small metal line coming from a connector attached to the outside of the tank. It seems the line has rusted and detached part way down the line. It would seem the easy way out is to take the piece out and extend the broken line . The problem I see is, the part being secured is using rivets. I could drill the rivets out but then how would I support the part from the inside to use Pop Rivets to attach the part back on.? Does this mean the tank has to be split open.? Gerry
  19. I removed the tank and found this hose inside. I was wondering why it was there.? Gerry
  20. Tom O'D Glad to hear this, as I didn't want to carry on and find out later I have a problem with this. Thanks
  21. The reason I was asking is I noticed the slot on the Damper never went all the way into the Special key. I was concerned that I had installed the Slinger the wrong way. After taking a good look at my photo I realized that if I install it that way I would have covered up the Special Key. The next photo shows were the slot on the Damper goes into the Special Key it doesn't go in all the way. The back of the slinger is tight against the block. My question now is it correct.?
  22. Just want to make sure I am installing the4 slinger the right way. Here is how I am going to install it. Gerry
