Otahuhu
Are there two different design of coils made for a points distributor ? One design of coil for use on a non ballast system? Another designed type of coil for a ballast system only ? Does the ballast resistance matter for a high voltage coil? What is the electrical circuit drawing for a foot operated Starter motor with a twin ignition distributor with two coils using an external mounted ballast for each coils? They feed into the same distributor cap The car is a twin shark plug motor
hchris
Perhaps it might be easier if you were to tell us what make of car it is, someone may then respond with a wiring diagram. The answer to your first question is yes, some coils have a built-in ballast reistor, some have an external resistor.
TerryB
Yes! Need info on make and year of car to help with info to answer your questions.
Dan Griffin
Any 6 cyl. 6 volt coil will work. For the starter run a number 1 size cable to the starter switch for the body feed run a # 12 wire to the volt meter from the starter switch. From the other side of the volt meter run one wire to the voltage regulator, one to the headlite switch one to the ignition switch.
Frank DuVal
Volt meter? You mean the instrument panel Ammeter?
