Vintageben
Hi all here’s a question I’ve been wondering about did 1929 Chrysler 65 sedans come with a side mount spare tyre or was this only a option offered on Roadsters, Coupes and tourers as they are the majority that I see with this option and usually they have wire wheels too. I’m wondering about this as I picked up a mudguard and all the brackets for this and I’m considering if I should fit it to my sedan but I’m still not sure if it will look right or just stupid. Any way any thoughts/opinions and any photos appreciated Cheers Ben
Sasha39
Hi Vintageben, Although I have not seen one I guess that it is possible as a side-mount on one side or dual side-mounts were an option those days, here is a 1930 Chrysler with dual side-mount. Cheers Mate. Edited September 24, 2018 by Sasha39 (see edit history)
keiser31
This shows that the Model 65 two door sedan could be ordered with side mounts. I imagine that the four door sedan could be, too.
Vintageben
Thanks for that. They look good still haven’t decided what I’ll do but have plenty of time to decide. My main reason for considering this is that my wife and daughter tend to carry a little more luggage then me and by doing this I would have more space at the rear of the car for luggage
Sasha39
Wow! I can't believe it I beat keiser31 to a reply post, must be my lucky day. Of course keiser31 would come up with a Model 65 example as he would, love your work and helpful advice that you give us keiser31. With must respect from Down-Under.
Spinneyhill
I asked the www for images. There were only three or four with side mounts and they were all roadsters or coupés.
Guest
A sidemount spare with a trunk on the back makes a great difference when travelling with a family.
