gregf
This is a Picture of my Great Grandparents and my Grandfather and his brothers. Anyone know what kind of a car was this?
nzcarnerd
Maybe a circa 1917 Willys-Knight ??? - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/wk_96.htm
Curti
I vote for 1916 overland.
keiser31
I think nzcarnerd got it. The Overland radiator shell has too crisp of a front edge.
gregf
Thank you all for the identity of the car, today I asked my 90yr old dad, and he thought that it was a Willy's Knight also, he mentioned that the engine was some what different than other engines of those days? Not sure what he meant by that, but thanks again for the answers and the year!
keiser31
Wiilys-Knight had what was called the "sleeve valve" engine which did not had the valves at the cylinder head like a conventional engine.

nzcarnerd
That 'kiwi' pic is an Overland 90 according to this lot - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/o_59.htm - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/gallery1.htmThe Knights are here - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/gallery5.htm It would seem that the model with the 'rounded' radiator, like the mystery car here, was only made around 1917 - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/wk_11.htmI am no expert on these but maybe this one - http://www.wokr.org/gallery/wk_175.htm is a regular Overland and not a Knight. 1fun37
I agree with nzcarnerd and Keiser31 that with his mentioning a different engine that is probably a Willys-knight. I have a 1926 W-k with the sleeve-valve engine and they are surely special is size and assembly. The picture does look like the 1917 with wood wheels.W-K had a round ornament with a knight for a radiator cap at some time, not sure what years. gregf
Sometimes I wonder what my Great Grandfather or Grandfather for that matter would say if he knew that in a matter of a few days I shared a family picture with one of their prized possessions(the Willy's knight) that was taken Almost 100 years ago, to people from around the whole world. New Zealand, Winsconson, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, just to name a few. And they helped me find out what kind of car and the year of the car and most likely when the picture was taken. And I wonder what he'd think if he saw me do this with a little device we call a "Smart Phone".
